About this extension
Logbeam makes raw logs readable and keeps everyday developer tools one right-click away.
LOG VIEWER (Ctrl+Shift+L)
• ERROR / WARN / INFO / DEBUG / TRACE in colour, with counters and one-click filters
• Java, Python and Go stack traces stay grouped with their error
• Plain-text and regex search with highlighted matches
• JSON logs (Logstash, pino, bunyan, zap) shown as readable lines
• Pauses between entries (+30.0s) show where the app stalled
• Collapse repeated lines: 500 identical retries become one line with ×500
• Jump to the next error, copy the visible lines
• Error timeline: see when errors piled up, click to jump there
• Click a line to read it in full, with all JSON fields; share a link to any line (#L120)
• Fast on 150,000+ lines: big logs are parsed in a background worker
LEAKED SECRET DETECTION
• Flags AWS keys, GitHub / GitLab / Slack / Stripe tokens, Google API keys, JWTs, private keys, passwords in URLs and password=… settings
• One click masks them on screen and in everything you copy
• "Mask secrets" in the right-click menu cleans up text before you paste it into a chat
DARK MODE FOR ANY SITE (Ctrl+Shift+.)
• Turn it on for the current tab, or remember it for a site
• Photos and videos keep their real colours
• Sites that already have a dark theme are left alone
FILTER, HIGHLIGHT, PODS
• Filter by fields: level=error service=payments duration>500, on JSON and key=value lines
• Drag across the timeline to keep one time range
• Pin highlights in their own colours
• kubectl and docker compose logs: a coloured chip per pod
• Open pasted logs and .log / .gz files; save the filtered lines
BOOKMARKS, GROUPS, FOLLOW
• Bookmark lines with notes and copy a Markdown report for a ticket
• Field statistics: the most common values, one click to filter
• The same error grouped: count, pods, first and last time
• Follow a log that is still being written
• JSON as a table, and local time instead of UTC
COMPARE TWO LOGS OR JSON DOCUMENTS
• Line diff with the changed words marked; unchanged parts folded
• Ignore timestamps, IDs and durations to compare two runs of the same CI job
• JSON compared by key, with a list of changed paths
• Right-click → Compare… on one text, then on the other
TEXT TOOLS: select text, right-click, then Logbeam
• Format / minify JSON
• Decode JWT with expiry status
• Base64 and URL encode / decode
• Unix timestamp ⇄ date
• Explain cron expressions (Unix and Spring)
• camelCase / snake_case / kebab-case / CONSTANT_CASE
• Sort and de-duplicate lines
• Mask secrets
• "Replace selection" writes the result back into inputs and editors
