Privacy policy for JSON Editor
JSON Editor by Shipit Software
JSON Editor processes documents in the browser on this device. It does not send documents, pasted text, queries, schema files to a server. It has no accounts, advertising, content scripts, browsing-history access or browsing permissions.
Document contents remain in memory until the tab closes. The user can explicitly download copies. Local JSON schema files and filename-to-schema associations are stored in this extension’s local browser storage to restore schema settings. Use Schema → Forget all schema settings to remove them. Uninstalling the extension removes its browser storage. Schema files are never downloaded automatically, and remote references are not fetched.
The extension’s document download does not overwrite the original file or acknowledge that the original was saved. Browser/store services operate under their own privacy policies.

Optional analytics are off by default. In the extension’s browser-managed options, users can enable usage statistics sent to PostHog in the United States. Events cover workspace opens and file open, export and failure counts, plus product, version, browser type and a random installation identifier. File contents, filenames, URLs, search terms, edits and error messages are excluded. No automatic click tracking or session recording is enabled. PostHog receives ordinary network information such as the IP address while processing requests; IP enrichment is disabled. All features work with analytics off. Disabling analytics stops future events and deletes the local identifier, without deleting events already received. The optional network permission is restricted to https://us.i.posthog.com/*; Firefox also asks for optional technical and interaction data consent. Local storage keeps this preference and identifier.
