About this extension
This extension makes and reads QR codes in the browser toolbar popup. Everything happens on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, and what you make here never expires.

What it does
  • Create: a QR for the page you are on, a link or any text. Download it as PNG or SVG, or copy the image or the text.
  • Tracking cleanup: removes utm and click-id parameters from links before they go in, and tells you how many it removed.
  • Style: pick the size, the error correction level and the colors, and add a logo in the center. A warning appears when the colors are too close for phones to read.
  • Wi-Fi: type the network name and password to get a QR that joins the network. The password is never saved unless you tick the box.
  • Scan: read the QR codes in the tab you are looking at, or from an image you choose, drop or paste. Each result is shown by type with its full web address, and links get warnings for short links, look-alike characters, plain http, numeric addresses and user names in the address.
  • History: what you made and scanned stays on this device. You can remove items, clear all, or turn history off.

How to use it
  1. Click the toolbar icon, or press Alt+Shift+Q. The QR for the current page is ready at once.
  2. Right-click a link or a text selection and choose a QR item. Press Alt+Shift+S, or choose the scan item, to read them.
  3. Download or copy the result.

Privacy
  • Everything is made and read in the browser. Pictures and pages are not uploaded.
  • There is no account, no analytics and no ads.
  • The extension looks at a tab only when you click its icon, use a menu item or a shortcut. It asks for no access to all sites.

Limits
  • Scanning reads the visible part of the tab. Scroll to it and scan again.
  • A QR holds up to about 2,300 characters at the default error correction level.
