About this extension
Blackbear Web Clipper saves what you are reading to Blackbear, the private, local-first home for your files, events, tasks and more.
Click the toolbar button (or press Alt+Shift+B) and choose what to keep:
- Article: the readable text of the page, without ads and clutter
- Selection: just the text you highlighted
- Link: the page's address and title
- Recipe: on recipe pages, the ingredients and steps as a checklist
Add a note if you like and press Save. The clip arrives in Web Clips in Blackbear as a regular note you can search, tag, link and edit.
Private by design
- Each clip is encrypted in your browser to one of your own Blackbear devices before it is sent. Blackbear's servers only relay it and cannot read it.
- The clipper reads a page only when you click it, and only that tab. It never reads your history, your other tabs or your cookies, and it collects no analytics.
- Pairing gives the browser a key that can only send clips. It cannot read anything in your account, and you can revoke it at any time in Blackbear.
Getting started
1. In Blackbear, open Settings, Connections, Web Clipper and create a pairing code.
2. Open the clipper's settings, paste the code and check that the fingerprint matches.
3. Clip. If Blackbear can't be reached, clips wait in the clipper and are sent later.
