Con un poco más de detalle...

I should probably introduce myself after participating after such a long while.

I'm an anonymous participant in the Mozilla project, focusing on testing and reviewing add-ons for compatibility, usability, and safety. Hence, I have made a lot of reviews.

I haven't created any add-ons, nor do I feel the need to; right now I'm happy sending feedback to developers, posting occasional bug reports, or asking for new features. I figure that for every person who uses Mozilla, only about 1 in 10 will actually sign up, so I aim to be their voice.

I believe in FREE and OPEN Internet, and have created a few collections in the hope that they may be useful arrangements. If you would like to change anything in any of them, email me.

Live HTTP Headers

I found this add-on tremendously useful in early versions of Firefox, but recently I discovered navigating to the browser console (Ctrl+Shft+K for Windows users) and ensuring 'Logs' are enabled under the 'Networking' filter will show the same thing in a sub-window of the current tab; perhaps even more neatly than this add-on can.

Open question: Is this add-on entirely obsolete, or might it still have some use?

Conspiracy

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

No average user should need this—if you see a padlock in your URL-bar, you have a secure connection and are okay to communicate securely on the Internet.

For security enthusiasts, it highlights something that may present itself as a weak link in secure (SSL/TLS) connections. Browsers do not individually ensure websites are who they say they are; they delegate this to a select number of "Certificate authorities" or CAs (given at https://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/certs/included/) that, in turn, vouch for the validity and security of websites. We don't generally see CAs that approve websites like PayPal.com or StateFarm.com unless we open up the page dialog (http://mzl.la/Mk9DSW).

The extension displays these hidden Certificate Authorities in the add-on bar, grouped by country, and the bottom-level Certificate Authority for any given secure site. This should be enough for anybody concerned about "rogue CAs" they may distrust and would want to watch.

For a primer on secure connections, read http://mzl.la/MDvkxK or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_Secure. An add-on that might be of interest is Calomel SSL Validator, which can be found at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/207653/.

...Is it just me, or does the "when I click the Statusbar, do..." option box have no choices other than "Nothing"?

Google.COM NO PORN

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

I critiqued this add-on by attempting to find porn using popular explicit keywords common to adult sites. All entries returned "No results".

Terms that are generally sexual—but not always—still get filtered. Searching for "breast" gave me, in the top ten, results for "breast cancer", "chicken breast", and "breast (anatomy)" at WebMD.

This looks like a pretty good alternative to Google for children, if you're concerned they might stumble on shady sites. Five stars.

Free Ringtones

Puntuado con 3 de 5 estrellas

The entire download is an XML data sheet, not even a true extension. It adds a search engine to your search engine list, *definitely* not something that can override your homepage or hijack your browser.

As for how good the ringtones are, or how cheap, I can't say. Didn't download any of them.

PONG! Multiplayer

The 1-player mode still works, but to play it you need to install https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/checkcompatibility/ first, restart Firefox, and look for the game in the "tools" menu.

2-player doesn't work, but everything else checks out okay.

Thumbs up. Great idea.

auto-plugin-checker

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

This should be FEATURED:

Firefox automatically checks for outdated add-ons, themes, search engines, and browser versions, but NEVER checks for outdated Flash or Java. Insecure plug-ins present a big security risk, and vigilant monitoring of https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ or the Java Console is just <expletive> annoying.

Kudos to the developer for making something Firefox has never managed to put together.

Animated pikachu

I like the nostalgic Pokemon look.

Unfortunately I've noticed that upon restarting the browser Pikachu stops running :-(

I wonder if this is just me?...

Just another security/privacy add-on to set your mind at ease :)

Download YouTube Videos as MP4

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

This, in my experience, has been flawless.

It currently (v. 1.6.2) works with the latest YouTube/Firefox codes, and the person who develops this add-on is pretty good in keeping up with the updates.
I've never had a problem with this one (I can't say the same for other add-ons).

Bottom line: the only downloader I've found to consistently and reliably work.

Bravo.

YouTube Unblocker

Puntuado con 3 de 5 estrellas

It works about 50% of the time for me, so 3 stars.

Unlike most other proxies It requires no set-up.
It can bypass country-based restrictions (e.g., Lady Gaga's channel in Germany) and certain IP-based copyrighting restrictions.

Things I would like to remind people of what it can't do:

Can't bypass big evil companies' (Sony, UMG) copyright restrictions if they are set worldwide
Can't bypass content-based restrictions ("I'm Sexy and I Know It" by LMFAO, etc.)
Can't access private/deleted videos
No add-on is perfect.

And way to stick it to the man ;)

History Janitor

Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas

It was really picky about how many days the limit had to be in order for it to do anything. Most times I just sat there, staring. I did get it to work at '14 days' and '1 day', but that was about it.

My advice? Don't count on it, use 'Expire history by days' instead if you need reliability.

No More Install Delay

Sweet. Comes in handy when you need to install a bunch of add-ons and don't want to wait.
