I have been using enigmail for some years and although it is maintained essentially by a single developer it has generally worked very well, including for nightly builds of Thunderbird. Occasionally changed in Thunderbird make it incompatible with Enigmail until the enigmail is patched and rebuilt. This happened in the past month, but today the latest nightly version of Enigmail works beautifully with the current nightly of Thunderbird (3.1pre on 3rd May 2010).

It would be nice if Mozilla took on board this really valuable and functional extension and supportd it as a core part of its product. After all GPG encryption for email is essential to a significant number of email users. Some users who are using other mail clients may switch to Thunderbird if Enigmail was available by default. It would be nice if more developers were able to keep the extension patched as the Thunderbird developers update and extend Thunderbird in preparation for its next important release.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.1).
