Message Pane Button

Exactly what I was looking for! I have been using Outlook Express on XP, and had to find a new email program when moving to W8 - hence Thunderbird. It was a nuisance having to let go of the mouse just to press F8. Many thanks for writing this add-on. (Now all I want is two buttons that replicate pressing F and B - the existing Forward and Back buttons are NOT the same!)
(Note to new users: Before you see the icon, you have to right-click on the button-bar, and choose Customize, then drag the Message Pane Button from the window to the bar.)
