My Reviews

ZipWeb

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is extremely cool! I have a need to modify contents of a zip file, and etc in my own firefox addons. Is your zip/rar codes open source, and is there documentations for it?

Youtube MP3 Downloader using youtube-mp3.org

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Where to leave bug reports for this? It is not working on this page - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4FZ8og276c&list=PLzBgi-bjxcqLi-y-C6PkrxLt5fum8rAOn&index=56

Coprolalia

This thing is so so so so so funny! Please update to latest methods, I hope this addon lives a long long life! It is hilarious!!!!

This stackoverflow topic shows a cookie cutter template for using the latest methods, which is also high performance - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/33937433/how-to-replace-string-of-a-webpage-using-firefox-addon

React Developer Tools

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is absolutely excellent. I went to angular then discovered React and never going back.

I am remaking my stuff with react and it is ultra powerful and way more performant. None of that initial {blah} stuff on load.

This addon makes it so easy, its the perfect tool.

Have you tried to use React in XUL? I am needing to do that. I am rewriting my addon Profilist with Rect, the HTML version is utterly awesome, just need to figure out how to drop that into XUL :)

Simplified Tab Groups

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Wow, this fixes the one thing I hated about TabGroups. I didn't like how it changed the view, I love having this in the toolbar. It opens a super beutiful panel, where we can manager and search. I really disliked the thumbnails, I could never tell what a site was by looking at the thumbnails.

With the panel view method, it gets rid of thumbnails, and only leaves the really useful information. This is fantastic!

Tab Groups

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Can't live without tab groups! Was sad to see it go. Was glad to see this come. :)

Fox Web Security

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I installed this on my siblings computers. This is a wonderful tool thank you for it! It's effective for those kids that inadvertently get epxosed to it - so the kids that are not wanting to get to bad stuff this helps to just keep it off their mind. But if someone wants to disable it they can get around it.

Selenium Builder

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

For someone that has no idea what Selenium is, but ended up here because they read "can automate tests", is there like a beginners guide? Do I have to install software on the computers I want to test on? Thanks!

Torrent Tornado

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is the greatest addon ever. Is it possible to make all the work happen in a ChromeWorker? Because it noticebly lags out my browser. Like hovering over links and stuff takes a while to recognize. I just reformatted my computer, and only thing on it is Firefox and TorrentTornado so i'm sure its TT. (not using e10s right now)

Textarea Cache

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Can you please add option to make the cache only take affect if idle for like 30 seconds. Or when the field loses focus, it is slowing down my typing noticeably - jerkiness noticeable - on sites like stackoverflow and things with more complex editors.

Open Clipboard Links

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is super duper fantastic. I love how the counter tells you how many links will open. Like I copied 10 links, and the number was showing only 2, this is because the other 8 were missing http:// - it would be nice if there was an option to force open each item split by new line. Because adding the http:// was kind of annoying :(

KDE5 Wallet password integration

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks very much for reply Guillermo! It seems masterpassword addon uses DBus from js-ctypes to tap into KWallet - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/files/browse/359914/file/lib/dbus.js#L21 - does that not allow us to use full power of KWallet?

There is a jscpp-types which is just some code we can drop into our addons - https://github.com/ochameau/jscpptypes - would you be able to use this to bypass the .SO file? I am super eager to see someone use js-ctypes to use C++ stuff on Linux. I did it on Windows with COM here - https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/js-ctypes/Examples/Using_COM_from_js-ctypes - if you have sometime and could try to use this to do KWallet with no .SO I would be so so interested to see that! I would document/blog about it :P If you get a chance may you please try? :) haha

> "Note: js-ctypes only works with C libraries; you can't use C++ methods directly. Instead, you'll need to create a shim library that uses C functions that then call into the C++ library for you. Examples can be found here: Bugzilla :: Bug 505907 - Support C++ calling from JSctypes"

KDE5 Wallet password integration

This is a very cool addon. You use a native .SO file and tap into it with js-ctypes.

There is an addon here that bypasses the .SO file and uses the platform API directly with js-ctypes. You might find it interesting. I mentioned it because I'm hoping the two you authors can get togather and have some synergy :) To make an even cooler experience. :)

Google Music Media Key Fix

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is some excellent work to create a global hotkey. Maybe you can team up with Carlin and myself. We are trying to bring media keys to Mac too. Carline took care of Windows and Linux.

Are you familiar with setting up global hotkey on Mac OS X?

Here is Carlins addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/media-keys/

And this is where we are discussing the mac os x support: https://github.com/carlin-q-scott/browser-media-keys/issues/17

We are doing this from ChromeWorkers/off-the-main-thread.

Exceptional - can you please explain a bit more on how to use this as a non-developer?

OCR Web

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is very cool. It is very accurate. However dragging and dropping an image into the sidebar is not working. :(

Would be cool if there was a toolbarbutton, as it wasn't intuitive at the start that Ctrl+7 was what I had to do do open it.

Capture Fox

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hi there,
I am a huge fan of Firefox and came across this addon, I couldnt use it but it sounds spectacular. I am a big time js-ctypes developer and was also planning on doing a screencast with webcam and audio as options.

I created a native screenshot addon that is cross paltform (windows, osx, and linux/solaris/bsd): https://github.com/Noitidart/NativeShot and https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nativeshot/

My next plan was to create a screencast addon. I did a bunch of research: https://github.com/Noitidart/ff-addon-ideas/wiki#screencast-addon

I was planning on using directshow for vista+ and for xp i didnt know what to use yet.

For osx i was going to use av foundation.

For linux/solaris/bsd I didn't find a solution yet.

But I just came across your addon and you have the windows xp+ already handled! I was wondering if i could team up with you, if you could just write the pseudo-code using the platform api's i could port it to js-ctypes and maintain the firefox addon. Would you be willing to do that?

For now may you please upload to github so i can join in and port the current binaries to js-ctypes so we can be supporting xp+ right away :)

Thank you!!
Noitidart

PS: I tried emailing support@capturefox.com but the email bounced back.

Enable Screen Capturing in Firefox

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Fantastic demo! I wish we could screenrecord in firefox without having to add this addon :(

SortTabs

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Superb!! Thank you for this! Some prettier images and icons would be nice. :)

Is it sorting everything only in the current group? Or across all tab groups? I was hoping to limit it to the current group.

Is it also possible to make it not affect the pinned tabs? I dont want it to sort those.

edit: do you have this on github? I would like to make a pull request, to add an option so it doesnt change sort order of the pinned tabs
