A. AI-Powered MindMap/Summarization (Gemini API Integration)
The add-on integrates with the Gemini API for advanced text processing.Functionality: It includes "MindMap" and "MindMap 2" buttons that send the page's text to the configured AI model for processing.
Custom Prompts: Users can define two separate, custom prompts (userPrompt and userPrompt2) in the settings for different AI tasks. The default prompt is: "Generate a concise summary of the following text, formatted for easy reading and comprehension".
Output: The result text generated by the AI is then loaded into the reading overlay for the user to read.
Configuration: The user must enter their Gemini API Key and select the AI Model (default is gemini-1.5-flash-latest) in the extension settings (settings.html).
B. Highly Customizable Reading Experience
The reading function offers deep customization to optimize comprehension and comfort.Reading Speed: Users can set a Default Reading Speed and a Speed Step Size for granular control.
Chunk Control:
Words per chunk is configurable (default 12).
Auto-Pause: Option to enable auto-pausing after a set number of chunks for a specified duration.
Repetition: Option to enable chunk repetition, allowing the text to be played a Total plays per chunk after every Nth chunk.
Appearance and Layout:
Color Themes: Offers Sepia, Dark, Blue, and fully Custom color themes for the overlay, text box, and progress bar.
Font Settings: Customizable font size, family (e.g., Georgia, Verdana, Courier New), and bolding for the reading text box.
Layout: The overlay alignment can be set to Center, Left, Right, or Manual Position, with a UI Zoom Multiplier to scale the entire interface.
Element Visibility: Most elements (buttons, progress bar, chunks display, elapsed time) can be shown or hidden individually.
C. Web Page Button Management
Small, persistent action buttons are injected onto the web page to launch the overlay functions.Buttons: Read Page, Paste & Read (for custom text), MindMap, MindMap 2, and Hide.
Customization: The buttons can be configured to be vertical or horizontal, transparent or colored, and can be given custom names.
