- Rated 5 out of 5by Elle Victore, 9 months agoNow you can go back and forth from YouTube to other tabs and apps without needing to hit the play button every time, or without forcing Firefox into desktop mode.
It even works for YouTube Music videos without any issues (there's some reviews saying that it doesn't work on videos categorized as music, but I didn't had any problems even with Vevo channels).
Very recommendable. - Rated 5 out of 5by Labib, 9 months ago

I believe I have discovered the issue! So, as stated in the 1ˢᵗ 2 reviews below, the app works on SOME videos {+5☆}, but on OTHERS it gets cut off as the page reloads {-4☆}.
After some experimentation, I can now definitely confirm that this extension functions EXACTLY as advertised on any "normal" video/playlist (like when listening to a podcast, for example).
HOWEVER, for any video YouTube has flagged as MUSIC, it forces the browser to kill the tab, automatically reloading it when next you switch over to it.
SO THERE YOU HAVE IT, MY DEAR SWEET DEV-TEAM! I've officially located the issue for you. NOW, all you gotta do is fix it.
As for my review... since I've proven the Extension still has ~50% functionality... {+2☆}, bringing the current total up to a respectable 3☆.
That said, should you release an update solving the music issue, I'll GLADLY bumb that badboy back up to 5☆!
Lookin' forward to it.
《UPDATE #1》
Not sure what happened, or if it's just on certain videos, but it definitely started failing every 5-10 minutes...
As soon as you fix that issue, I'll change it back to 5☆ though!
(it's so weird, cuz it literally just worked like 14 hours ago...)
《ORIGINAL REVIEW》
Perfection. It does EXACTLY whst it says it'll do. YouTube/Mozilla keep putting out updates that makes it harder and harder to multitask or listen to videos, but THIS is the solution.
THANK YOU.Developer response
posted 8 months agoDoes this happen even if you open a new Youtube tab and then start playing back one single (longer) video, or only in conjunction with autoplay and/or playlists? There's a Firefox bug involving the latter (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1878115).
Also another thing: If you temporarily try disabling any kinds of battery optimisations and stuff like that (compare https://dontkillmyapp.com/) for Firefox – does that improve the situation in any way?
I've tried some eleven or twelve minute long "Category: Music" videos, and as long as I only play back one single video at a time (in order to avoid the above Firefox bug), everything worked fine on my phone. - Rated 1 out of 5by Ebantero, 9 months agoIt no longer works, video stops playing, the page reloads and I have to manually scroll to where I was.
- Rated 1 out of 5by tapk, 9 months agodoesnt work anymore, plays video for 5 min and stops, and i have to manually search place where it stopped
- Rated 1 out of 5by gohan2091, 9 months agoThis use to work but over the last couple of months it's broken. Like others have said, after about 5 minutes of video playing while the screen is off or you've minimised Firefox, the video stops playing and the webpage reloads. PLEASE can this be fixed? I cannot find another extension like this and I find it incredibly useful.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16669352, 9 months agoIt doesn't work like before, with the newer firefox ver. I tried many times but it doesn't function well
- Rated 5 out of 5by firedingo, 9 months agoKeeps playing while screen is off and locked. Played when in different apps and plays while in different tabs while in Firefox. 🤌
Tunes are playing screen off yet again. Thank you. - Rated 1 out of 5by Tam, 9 months agoNever been fully functional, but now hardly works at all. Switching away from Ff makes the video stop entirely and the page reload >75% of tries. Seemed to get worse with Ff v122

- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 12756750, 9 months agoWhen the smartphone is locked, YouTube continues to play in the background for about 5 minutes, then stops. If you just minimize the browser, but do not block the smartphone, then everything is fine.
This began to happen in Firefox v122.0. Without the add-on it doesn't play at all in the background. - Rated 2 out of 5by Universe Bystander, 9 months agoUsed to work like a charm, but just now it stopped. It will play in the background for about 5 min then stop, even glitching Firefox and forcing me to restart it.
