The Quick Thoughts Add-on lets you write notes and capture the current page to send to TheBrain.
About this extension
Capture a thought the moment you have it, without leaving the page you're on or opening TheBrain.

TheBrain is a place to keep what you know, connected. Instead of filing ideas into folders, you link them: each thought can connect to as many others as it relates to, and hold its own notes, files and web links. Your brains sync across Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android and the web, so they're with you wherever you work.

Quick Thoughts gets ideas into TheBrain quickly. Click the toolbar button or press Alt+Shift+U (Option+Shift+U on Mac), type, and send. The note goes to the Quick Thoughts inbox in your TheBrain account and appears on all your devices. Later, in TheBrain, you can edit it and file it into any brain: as a new thought, added to an existing thought's notes, or attached as a file.

What you can do
  • Write with formatting (headings, lists, bold, links and more) in the same editor TheBrain uses.
  • Add the page you're on as a link with one click, or send just the link.
  • Keep capturing offline: notes wait on your computer and send when you're back online.
  • Pick up where you left off: an unsent draft is still there when you reopen the popup.
  • Use it in light or dark mode; it follows your system setting.

Getting started
  1. Install the extension. Firefox will ask you to allow it to send your notes and the links you add to TheBrain; that's how they reach your account.
  2. Click Connect, sign in to TheBrain on the page that opens, and approve the connection. There's no key to copy or paste.
  3. Start capturing. Your notes appear in the Quick Thoughts panel in TheBrain.

To change the keyboard shortcut, open Add-ons and Themes, click the gear, and choose Manage Extension Shortcuts.

Quick Thoughts is free with any TheBrain account and needs Firefox 140 or later. You can disconnect the extension from its options page, or remove its access any time under Capture Devices in your account settings at app.thebrain.com.

Privacy

Your notes, and any page links you choose to add, are sent only to your own TheBrain account. The extension doesn't read page content, doesn't track your browsing, and has no ads or analytics.
