Tabwy by Eiri
Left-click a search result and it opens in a new background tab — your search page stays right where it is. Works on Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, Brave, Ecosia, Startpage and Yandex. No tracking, no network requests.

About this extension
Every browser can open a link in a background tab with a middle-click or Ctrl+click. Tabwy makes that the default for search results, so you can open several results in a row without ever losing your place in the list.
Left-click a result: it opens in a new tab behind the current one. The search page stays put.
Supported engines
Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, Brave Search, Ecosia, Startpage, Yandex.
Settings (toolbar button)
* Enabled — turn Tabwy off without uninstalling it
* Open in background — or focus the new tab instead
* Tab position — next to the current tab, or at the end of the strip
What it does not touch
Middle-click, Ctrl/Cmd+click, Shift+click and Alt+click keep their normal browser behaviour. Only ordinary left-clicks on actual result links are affected — navigation, pagination, ads, "related searches" and the engine's own menus are left alone.
Privacy
No network requests of any kind. No analytics, no telemetry, nothing collected, nothing sent. The only stored data is your three settings, kept locally on your machine.
Tabwy asks for a single permission, "storage", to remember those settings. It deliberately does not request the "tabs" permission — creating a tab does not require it, and requesting it would grant needless read access to every tab's URL.
