About this extension
Memfolio saves an account's photos and videos from social platforms into folders on your computer, one folder per account, and never downloads a file the folder already has. Works on Instagram.
What it does
Firefox
Privacy
Requirements: Firefox 128 or later and a login on the site; it shows little to visitors.
Free and open source (Apache-2.0): https://github.com/howar31/memfolio
What it does
- Download All on a profile page, for the tab you are viewing: posts, Reels or tagged. A normal run stops at the first page that is already on disk; Full scan lists every page and fills in anything missing. A run can be cancelled and continued later.
- Single downloads: a post, one picture of a carousel, a thumbnail, a reel, stories and highlights, from a button under the pointer or with Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + D.
- One folder per account. The account is identified by its numeric id, so a renamed account keeps its folder.
- The toolbar list shows the managed accounts with groups, a pinned block, sorting by name, last run, file count or date added, and a manual order set by dragging. Profile addresses can be pasted to add accounts and exported as text.
- English and Traditional Chinese interface.
Firefox
- Firefox gives an extension no access to folders on the disk. This is a limit of the browser, and the Firefox build works within it: single items and whole accounts can be downloaded, and managing the files is left to you.
- Files are saved inside the browser's download folder as Memfolio/<username>/. The name can be changed in the settings.
- Before each Download All you choose the account's folder; the file names seen then decide what is already there. Download everything skips the check and writes over files of the same name.
- Not available on Firefox: importing existing folders, choosing another folder for an account, and the folder check.
Privacy
- No analytics, no error reports, no remote code. Nothing is sent to anyone.
- The extension runs on the supported site only (www.instagram.com) and uses your own session there. It saves what you can already see while logged in; it does not bypass logins, privacy settings or paywalls.
- Permissions: storage for settings and the account list; downloads to write files into the download folder; access to www.instagram.com for the buttons and the media information of the pages you open.
