About this extension
Mapiris turns Google Maps reviews into a clear, structured summary — verdict, scores, highlights, pros and cons, and price range — for any place, in seconds.
Stop scrolling through 80 reviews to decide where to eat, stay, or shop. Mapiris reads them all and gives you the answer at a glance.
HOW IT WORKS
WORKS FOR ANY PLACE, NOT JUST RESTAURANTS
The summary adapts to whatever you're looking at:
• Restaurants — quality is the food, ambience is the atmosphere
• Hotels — quality is the rooms, value is the price per night
• Shops — quality is the product selection, service is the staff
• Museums, parks, public offices, services, attractions — same flow
Fields that don't apply (like "ambience" for an online service) are simply hidden.
BRING YOUR OWN AI KEY — FREE OPTIONS INCLUDED
Mapiris doesn't run its own AI backend. Connect it once to a provider of your choice:
• Groq — free, fast, recommended for getting started
• Google Gemini — free tier available
• OpenAI — paid, GPT-4o-mini
• Anthropic — paid, Claude Sonnet
You only pay (if anything) for what you actually use, directly to the provider. No subscription, no Mapiris middleman.
PRIVACY BY DESIGN
• No Mapiris servers. Reviews go straight from your browser to your chosen AI provider.
• No telemetry. No tracking. No analytics. No account required.
• Your API key is stored locally, obfuscated in browser storage.
• Mapiris only activates on Google Maps place pages.
• GDPR-friendly by architecture: no personal data on our servers, because there are no servers.
AVAILABLE IN 8 LANGUAGES
English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Polish, Dutch. The UI and the AI-generated summary both follow your browser's language automatically.
OPEN AND LIGHTWEIGHT
• Manifest V3
• Vanilla JavaScript, no frameworks, no bundler, no runtime dependencies
• Same codebase on Chrome and Firefox
Try Mapiris and turn every Google Maps page into a 5-second decision.
⚠️ Firefox users — if the Mapiris button doesn't appear on Google Maps
Firefox treats google.com as a restricted domain and, by default, blocks
extensions from running on it. This is a Firefox setting, not a bug in
Mapiris — the button won't show up until you allow it (one time):
You only need to do this once. Mapiris runs entirely in your browser and
only on Google Maps; it can't change this setting for you because Firefox
reserves it for the user.

Firefox treats google.com as a restricted domain and, by default, blocks

Mapiris — the button won't show up until you allow it (one time):
- Open Firefox menu → Add-ons and themes (or go to about:addons).
- Click Mapiris.
- Open the ⋯ (three dots) menu → Manage, then the Details tab.
- Turn ON "Run on sites with restrictions".
- Reload your Google Maps tab — the Mapiris button will now appear.
You only need to do this once. Mapiris runs entirely in your browser and
only on Google Maps; it can't change this setting for you because Firefox
reserves it for the user.
