Not quite as good as Text Link. Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I gave this a try when Text Link stopped functioning on nightly. It works but often doesn't linkify the whole url only a part of it which results in junk. There were numerous occasions. It seemed to me that it tends to ignore both the front and the end of an url in these cases. The one example I remember is when it ignored everything before "google" in a "code.google.com" url.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.2).

Please, use support e-mail (linkificator@gmail.com) to report problems rather than review.
Without any specific examples, I am not able to solve problems, if any...

txt files not working Rated 4 out of 5 stars

In 2.1.1-2.1.2 txt files not working (html is ok)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.2).

Please, don't use review to report bugs!
use e-mail linkificator@gmail.com instead.

Thank you.

Workaround to get back linkification of text files: open 'Advanced Settings', 'Configuration' => 'General' tab and remove value 'pre' from 'Excluded Elements' list.

Version 2.1.1 works with issues Rated 5 out of 5 stars

When click on some link - linkificator load previous url instead of link, I clicked.

For example:
1. open page A;
2. on page A - click on url to page B;
3. press BS - return to page A;
4. on page A - click on url to page C;
5. page B opened instead of C;

When linkificator is disabled - this issue is absent.
Bug appears in version 2.1.1.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.1).

I will deliver in urgency a version 2.1.2 reverting some changes I did in 2.1.1 to solve this problem and get time to investigate the problem.

When closing this addon reload ALL tabs (even unloaded). Why dammit?
(v 2.1.0, FF34)
But still 5 stars. Happy new year!

good luck!

You can disabling Linkificator without tabs re-load by using 'SHIFT-CTRL-Y' shortcut or selecting 'Disable' entry from widget context menu or unchecking 'Activated' from options page.

Using buttons 'Disable' or 'Remove' from the add-on page options restore the initial page content by reloading it.
FYI, I am currently working on enhancements to this behavior.

Works great, but not in all cases Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Please download the original testcases file for Linkification: http://yellow5.us/firefox/testcases.txt

Look at news:// links which are not always linkified. If that will be fixed, go 5 stars.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.5).

For now, Linkificator supports only, for news protocol, the following syntax: news:<newsgroupname>. If you want the support of news://<domainname>/<newsgroupname>, in 'Advanced Settings', Configuration tag, Protocols entry, change the 0 in news item with 2 (i.e. news~news#2) but be aware that news URI specifying newsgroupname only will no longer recognized.

I put in my TODO list the support of the two syntaxes for news protocol.

up until the May 19, 2014 update everything was working fine, however since that update it has some bug that crashes Firefox 15+ times a day. something in that update makes Firefox quickly take up more memory. it jumps by ~10,000k at a time, going up a total of about 800,000k before falling all the way back down again at once. i assume this is the cause of the crashes. removing this, and only this, stopped the crashes.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.1).

Please don't use reviews to report bugs because I often need more information and I cannot contact review's author.
For example, I didn't experience this problem on my various environments (Win7, Linux and MacOS) so I need more information.
The preferred way is to send to me an e-mail (use Support E-mail button on the Linikificator page) describing the problem and including the environment information (help menu, debug information).

Great addon replacement for Linkification but I don't like the fact that upon disabling the addon, it starts refreshing ALL my tabs which I did not want as some tabs I like to keep its old history title for some purposes. In the meantime I have switched back to Linkification as it seems to support the newer Fx versions now until this gets fixed/optioned.

Update: Thanks for second option info. Sadly if I wanted to test other linkify-text addons, I would have to still disable it in either case as it could conflict with your addon.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.0).

FYI, you have two different possibilities to disable Linkificator:
* Add-on management page (about:addons): in this case, pages are reverted to their initial state by re-loading them
* Using Linkificator menu entry (Disable) or short-cut (default: ctrl-shift-y): in this case, the page is NOT re-loaded, but links inserted by Linkificator are removed.

Double click text URL to open link? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Is it possible to disable the automatic link creation and use on-the-fly creation instead, which opens the link when i double click the text URL? Otherwise I have to stay with Linkification.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.6.2).

I do not intend to implement this feature because some other add-on, actively maintained, already offers it.

Linkificator is an excellent replacement alternative for Linkification. A great convenience, and works as advertised. Thanks MarkaPola!

Yes! I had not been able to find a replacement that I liked for the venerable, but aged, Linkification until I came across Linkificator. Much more modern, I find it's also much faster. Thanks!

Good addon however needs more work to be on par with linkification. (I mean the good old days of nonbuggy "linkification")

Can you also add the option of "linkification" which enables you to double clicking text links open them in new tab or window etc.. Especially if you disable auto linkify you need this to work with links.

Works great. A good alternative to Linkification. I've been using Linkification for years, and it started really messing up and slowing down sites like Amazon and Google-Images. This does basically the same thing as Linkification, only without the slowdowns. Highly recommended.

A solid 5 Stars Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This review is for 1.4.0 and replaces my previous reviews.

Linkificator is an actively supported extension and shows steady improvement between versions. The developer is responsive, takes bug reports seriously and is open to suggestions.

While there is still some room for ongoing improvement, I am comfortable giving Linkificator the highest 5-star rating. Also, I would like to thank the author for the add on and the ongoing support.

Good Job, Marka Pola!

Edit: 1.5.0 took care of most false positives.

Appears modern, well maintained development, and responsive to users. Duplications important features from classic Linkfication add-on. Plus no restart as a bonus. This is a great add-on. Thank you.

Replacement for the ancient Linkification Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Was working fine before, does not slow page loads.

However, has stopped working completely since the latest add-on update (FF19.0.2). Fix pls

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.0).

I didn't notice any problem with this version.
For specific problems, the preferred method is to send to me an e-mail (click on add-on main page "Support E-mail" button). Thank you.
Anyway, I suggest the following actions:
1. restart your firefox
2. try to de-install and re-install the add-on
3. De-activate all other add-ons to check if there is an incompatibility betwwen Linkificator and another add-on

Good, but needs some improvements.A lot of links only linkificate halfway, and like it sister addon Linkification, it has problems with semi colons in links, but overall, not a bad start.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1.1).

Problem regarding partial linkification is identified. Fix will be part of next release (1.2.0).

Better and better Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I totally agree with what AlexOren said and don't really have much more to add : Linkificator is getting better and better ! And its developer is really cooperative and willing to help.

Ok the extension still slows down the opening of certain pages with very numerous links, but it's better than what it used to be.

And, for instance, it doesn't cause no freeze in Hotmail/Outlook.com, what Linkification used to do !

So let's stay in touch with this add-on !
