About this extension
One question can lead to several very different searches. Fork the Question gives those directions a place to live, so you can return to the reasoning rather than a pile of forgotten tabs.

Start a research map from the popup, or reopen a saved map. Its workspace opens in a regular extension tab. The main question sits above independent directions, each with its own label, search query, observation and status.

Try a mechanism, a failure case or another approach. The starter buttons name a direction and copy your question as a starting query; they do not pretend to generate a researched answer. Refine that wording before searching.

FEATURES
- A lightweight popup for creating and reopening research maps.
- A spacious local workspace tab with separate, editable directions.
- Up to 24 maps and ten directions per map.
- Three states: Unexplored, Useful and Dead end.
- Up to 600 characters of your own observation per direction.
- Search one displayed query at a time with Google, DuckDuckGo or Bing.
- Explicit Save question and Save direction controls.
- Delete maps or directions and undo the latest deletion during the workspace session.
- Warnings before switching maps with unsaved edits.

HOW TO USE
1. Enter a question in the popup and click Create a research map.
2. Add a direction in the workspace and make its query more specific.
3. Click Search to open that query in the selected engine.
4. Return to the map, write your observation and choose a status.
5. Save the direction. Reopen the map later from the popup.

BOUNDARIES
No automatic research, AI answers, webpage reading, result extraction, history tracking or tab monitoring. Searching does not automatically change the status of a direction. Observations are written by you. Searches open only when explicitly requested. Unsaved edits are not a durable draft: save them before closing the popup or workspace. Work in one workspace at a time when editing the same map; simultaneous edits in different windows are not a collaborative editing system.
