About this extension
This extension only monitors other add-ons of type 'extension' (not theme, etc...) and installType 'normal'.
The 'Access your data for all websites' permission allows this extension to fetch the updateUrl of extensions that are self-hosted (they are not on addons.mozilla.org) to get their current versions. This permission may be granted in the Options page. Alternatively, permissions may be individually granted for each self-hosted extension to avoid using the 'Access your data for all websites' permission. A user must manually grant permission in the Options page each time a new self-hosted extension is installed. If this extension has not been granted permission to fetch the updateUrl of a self-hosted extension, then that extension will be ignored.
A button badge will appear on this extensions toolbar button if there are available updates. Also, notifications may be turned on to notify a user.
Clicking on the toolbar button will perform an immediate update check (unless one is currently running). Double clicking the toolbar button will open the Options page.
Update check frequency, notifications, toolbar button colors, etc... are configurable in this extensions Options page. The Options page may also be accessed by pressing 'Ctrl+Shift+A', opening the 'about:addons' page, right clicking the toolbar button and clicking 'Manage Extension', etc...
Note, this extension is not necessary if 'Update Add-ons Automatically' is selected in the 'about:addons' page.
Issues/Limitations
* The option 'Save a log of recently updated, installed, and uninstalled extensions' may not work if 'Never remember history' is selected (Settings - Privacy & Security - History).
* This extension can't force the browser to check for updated add-ons or update add-ons that have available updates. A user may need to manually select 'Check for Updates' in the 'about:addons' page to show all the available updates.
* Some extensions delay installing an update until the browser restarts. They will continue showing an update is available until the browser restarts or until a user selects the 'Update now' button on the extension in the 'about:addons' page.
* If an extension is removed in the 'about:addons' page, an 'Undo' button will appear. If the extension has an available update, it will continue showing an update is available. The extension may be uninstalled by reloading or closing the 'about:addons' page.
