by thomasa88, 10 months agoA bit fiddly on Android, if you just want to copy one link text from a page. Does not work on the Firefox addons site, likely due to security features in Firefox. Maybe the addon could warn about that? I thought that it wasn't working at first.

posted 10 months agoThank you for taking the time to leave your review and share your experience with the "Copy Link Text" extension. I truly appreciate your feedback!
I completely understand how it might feel a bit fiddly to use on Android. Due to the limitations of browser APIs, it's not possible to directly modify the context menu or the long-press menu on mobile devices. This is why I designed the extension to function as it does, prioritizing reliability while working within those constraints.
As for the Firefox Add-ons site, you're absolutely right—it doesn’t work there. This is because Mozilla restricts extensions from modifying or interacting with their own add-ons page for security reasons. These restrictions are in place to protect users, ensuring no extensions can interfere with or alter the Firefox Add-ons site.
Rest assured, the extension is fully safe to use. It's a tool I built for my own everyday use, so I’m confident in its functionality and security. Additionally, extensions need to meet certain criteria and earn a solid reputation before achieving verified status, and I’m actively working towards that goal.
Looking ahead, I’m planning future updates to make the extension even more useful and user-friendly, especially for mobile users like yourself. Your input is incredibly valuable as I continue improving it, and I hope you’ll stick around to see the upcoming enhancements!
Thank you again for your feedback and for using the extension!

posted 2 hours agoHi Venator — thanks for the detailed report and version info. We’ve just shipped an update that improves the reliability of the “Toggle Copy Mode” on Firefox for Android and makes the in-page indicator clearer.
Quick guide to make sure it’s working as intended on Android:
Update to the latest version from the Add-ons store.
Open a normal website page (not internal pages like about:*, addons.mozilla.org, or the New Tab page — Firefox blocks extensions there).
From Menu > Add-ons > Copy Link Text, tap “Enable Copy Mode.”
You should see a small circular control at the bottom-left (extension icon with a subtle ✕). While Copy Mode is on, tap any link to copy its visible text. A “Copied: …” toast will appear.
Tap the circular control to exit Copy Mode.
If the toggle still appears to do nothing:
Check the site isn’t one of the restricted pages listed above.
Ensure the add-on is allowed to run on all sites (Add-ons > Copy Link Text > Permissions).
Refresh the page after enabling Copy Mode and try again.
If it’s still not working on your device, I’d love to troubleshoot. Please share:
A URL where it fails
Whether the bottom-left control appears after tapping “Enable Copy Mode”
Whether any “Copied: …” toast appears when tapping links
You can open an issue on GitHub and I’ll jump on it right away. Thanks again for helping us improve — and if the update fixes it for you, we’d really appreciate an updated rating.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 12796074, 7 months agoUsing Firefox Android - It does work but it's a bit awkward to use. You have to open the extension, to ap toggle copy mode, go back to your web pages then tap on the link to copy the text, then back to the extension again to disable copy mode.
I really wish Firefox would just give us the option when tapping and holding a link that says "select text"Developer response
posted 7 months agoThank you for your feedback! I understand that the process may feel a bit awkward, but unfortunately, this workflow is necessary due to limitations in Firefox for Android. Currently, Firefox does not provide a built-in way to select text from links, which is why I created this extension—I needed this functionality myself.
At the moment, this is the only working extension for copying link text on Firefox mobile. To make it a little easier, you can quickly disable copy mode by simply tapping the extension icon in the bottom right after copying the text.
I truly appreciate your support and feedback, and I hope the extension continues to be helpful! - Rated 5 out of 5by Fleet Command, 8 months agoToday, 3 March 2025, two similar extensions failed me on Firefox 135.0.1. (This type of extension has a tendency to break once in a while, requiring reinstallation.) This extension is working and is available for Firefox on Android too. So, I'm going settle for this one for a while.

- Rated 5 out of 5by YH, 8 months agoit works on Android which is all I ask for. It is a bit tricky to use, but that is probably due to android Firefox limitations anyways, so props to the devs
