Reviews for Ruffle - Flash Emulator
Ruffle - Flash Emulator by Ruffle

Rated 3 out of 5
by DarseZ, 3 years agoIt worked perfectly for my purpose (playing old SWF content I created for clients in order to screen record). For performance it deserves full marks.
I tempered my rating to 3 stars because of the puzzling (to me) requirement for the add-on to access all data for any website. I don't see why it needs to have my bank login data, for instance.
I installed on a separate portable browser and used it, then uninstalled immediately after. But it would be great to have an add-on that requested access to specific sites as needed, rather than a blanket permission which it can have access to any amount of material. I understand many people don't care about that, but it's essential for my purposes.
However, aside from that...this worked perfectly. Thanks for creating this and giving us a window into past great web content.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 18963226, 2 months agoThis extension used to be a blessing, but just stop making updates, please. Every time they do, they break something. An update a long time ago broke the kiko pop game on neopets, and an update released just yesterday, april 28th, broke the neopets ncmall giveaway game that's worked since they released it. I've gotten so fed up with this extension, I wouldn't use it unless I had to. Just revert it to what it was a few years ago when everything just worked.

- Rated 2 out of 5by Carol A, 3 months agoOnly works with SWF files. There are sites like ColourLovers.com's pattern generator that use flashplayer for things other than playing flash. Please make the extension also able to handle PNG, BMP, JPG, etc., for generating seamless repeating backgrounds. Thank you! As soon as this happens, 5 stars from me! I'm desperate for this tool!

- Rated 1 out of 5by regauss, 5 months agoThey claim to be fixing text and other issues but I've held back on reporting 2 swfs, and only the reported swfs get fixed. I still can see the problem. they're making hacks to fix a person's problems, but not the overall system. their fixes only fix the one swf, not all swfs with the issue. because I'm not reporting it, its not even going to be fixed for the game even by way of another game with the issue being fixed
and when they go to close any issue, no matter the content, they close it without even asking if the problem is fixed for the person that opened the issue! the maintainers just go 'works on my machine" "fixed by 12345" and close the issue.
sloppy.
you can just do a 'does it work now?'
and if the user threw their phone into the lake after 2-3 days close the issue and be done. say 'if you see the problem, reopen'
is it really that hard waiting for feedback from someone active in the issue? or even just asking, active or not?
don't just insta close assuming you've fixed it for everyone, at least wait a little before assuming no response.
might as well have one of the dreaded and awful stalebots if you're that uninterested in following up - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18616882, 5 months agoNot available anymore? Install attempts on Ubuntu Flagging "corrupt ad-on" instead.....
