- forbid duplicates
- download the largest version of the image if it's referenced/linked
- download in the same pattern for a selected area of the page
this would truly shave time off when it becomes scalable like thatDeveloper response

Your feature requests are kinda asking for a lot though. Detecting duplicates is way out of scope for a simple addon, trying to find linked bigger versions of an image is a logistical nightmare while a user can do it himself easily, and downloading all in an area is a very tricky thing to do. Determining the "pattern" will often not have the result users want either and will be heavily affected by every individual website's structure.
I get the feeling one of your underlying problems can be solved another way: I use my other addon Copy Selected Links to get the full-res links of images in a thumbnail gallery, and throw them into jdownloader or similar programs to get all the full-size pics. Maybe that solves one of your problems?

A decent one-click image downloader for Firefox. It's ridiculous how long and how many searches and addon trials I had to do to finally find this, which is what I've been looking for all along. I don't even have to press Ctrl! And it downloads some images that otherwise try to disable the "Save Image as" menu, which is great.

In Firefox, doubleclicking on an image fails to download it.
Additionally, in the Manage Your Add-Ons, Extensions, the Options button fails to appear. (It should be next to the Disable and Remove buttons.) So, it is impossible to tell the add-on to use the hover option.
I notice, another add-on has the same problem, Video Downloader Professional.Developer response

posted 8 years agoYou're going to have to be way more specific if you expect me to do something about it. Make an issue here and explain in detail: https://gitlab.com/Marnes/doubleclick-image-downloader/issues- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13042315, 8 years agoGood job! Does exactly what I need it to do, thanks! ... Question. I can't seem to select the greyed out box for 'File renaming' section. Why is this? ... Also, will this addon be valid and working in the next Firefox, ie, 'not legacy'... Looking foreword to your response. :)
Edit: Thanks for your quick response! ... Actually, there is no 'legacy' warning on this addon, sorry. I was just getting paranoid that some addons might not be properly marked as legacy when in fact they might end up being... I don't want to start relying on addons only to have to delete them later when Firefox forces me to. So I'm keeping it! :)
Too bad about the file renaming/folder saving issue, however, Firefox will save to whatever you set it to, (Even if you set Firefox to always ask!) and auto increment is working, so it's workable... Really surprised at the lack of availability of these types of addons for Firefox as this is an extremely useful tool.Developer response
posted 8 years agoThe file renaming and subfolder features are disabled for now because the new firefox does not support them (they cannot be programmed to work). What do you mean, not legacy? The current update (6.0.0) is not a legacy addon and should not be marked as legacy in your firefox.
