- Rated 3 out of 5by Sven Golly, 3 years agoThe one problem I have with this extension is that it gets in the way of legitimate Bing searches. For example, DuckDuckGo serves up shopping links that are proffered through Bing. Running Foxtana, those links never complete. So while it may fix Cortana/Edge side links, it breaks other content. I don't know if there's a workaround or not but so far I haven't found one.

But, Cortana's searches already show results within its search window, so if you want to click on a specific result there and go directly to it, you actually have to install EdgeDeflector (as noted in the welcome page for Foxtana Pro) and then *disable Foxtana Pro*--because Foxtana Pro will not allow skipping directly to the specific result clicked on in Cortana. I have a problem with this extension because it doesn't explain this anywhere. I suspect a lot of users will actually find EdgeDeflector by itself a lot more useful than Foxtana Pro. I'm pretty sure I will; I just figured this feature out by accident right now and I doubt I'm going to re-enable Foxtana Pro.

Unfortunately it doesn't redirect to Firefox using Google Search Engine. It periodically directs me Mozilla Firefox, but still uses Bing; though I have the extension settings set to "Bing+Cortana"
I might suggest the developer carries over/implement options from the Google Chrome "Chromerta" extension, which include further options, such as "Enable "Open Website" and "Apply to all Bing Searches" this may help prevent errors.
However, the Google Chrome extension "Chrometana" works flawlessly in redirecting my Cortana searches to Google Chrome, & from Google Search engine every time!
I'd really love to see this Foxtana Pro extension work as well. Hope for some updates in the future.
Developer responseposted 6 years agoFoxtana Pro is the firefox version of Chrometana Pro, an extension that aims to fill the gap left by the original chrometana which was abandoned by its author.
Selecting "Bing + Cortana" will redirect all bing searches and cortana searches redirected to the browser to the search engine of your choice. Telling cortana to "open example.com" will result in Foxtana pro opening example.com.
It's unclear to me what issues you are experiencing with Foxtana Pro. If you are talking about Foxtana Pro not working when firefox isn't already opened (and thus bing is opened instead of another search engine), then that is an issue that I am in the process of fixing.
Edit: Fixed in 1.6 :)
