About this extension
Ever spent five minutes writing a thoughtful comment, only to lose it all to a page refresh or accidental back-swipe? GhostDraft is your silent safety net.
How it works
The moment you click into any text field, comment box, or content-editable area, GhostDraft starts quietly saving what you type — directly to your own browser storage. Nothing leaves your device. Ever.
A small ghost icon appears near your active field. Click it to open the GhostDraft panel, where you can write in a distraction-free editor, see your live word and character count, and push your draft back into the page with one click.
If you return to a page where a draft was saved and the field is empty — after a crash, refresh, or session restore — GhostDraft automatically surfaces a "Restore Draft" button so you never have to start over.
Features
• Auto-saves as you type (debounced — no performance impact)
• Floating ghost icon on any focused text field
• Zen-mode draft panel with live word/character count
• One-click draft restore after crashes or refreshes
• Global draft manager in the toolbar popup — browse, copy, or delete all saved drafts
• Drafts are scoped by page URL + field position, so the right draft appears in the right place
• Full Shadow DOM isolation — never broken by the host site's CSS
Privacy
GhostDraft collects absolutely no data. There are no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, and no network requests of any kind. All drafts are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage and never leave your device. This is declared explicitly in the extension manifest.
Permissions
GhostDraft only requests storage (to save your drafts locally) and access to web pages (to detect text fields). No other permissions are needed or requested.
