> I - Search results from words inside quotes are not highlighted, ie "web analytics"
This is mostly fixed now. I haven't done extensive testing but results look good so far. The behavior in 1.9.3 is to look for literal " in the search results, which obviously most engines don't interpret as part of the search term
> I - Only the first page of search results highlight the search term, subsequent pages don't.
This one might get messy but I'm trying a few things.
> I - When a search results page is opened the search words are not highlighted.
Do you mean in the search bar itself on the results page? No, the API I'm using doesn't look in text input fields from what I can tell. Doing so with highlighting colors would require some fancy overlays and a lot of time.
I'm working on a basic find bar. From your suggestions it looks like you want a straight-up replacement for findbar tweak. I can use that as a reference but the webextension API is limited and there are some things that simply can't be done.
> Do you have a webage for donations via paypal or something similar ?
I don't, but you can help development by giving feedback at the github site. I don't receive notifications when comments here are edited, making it difficult to keep a conversation going. I think I have a good idea what you're after though.

I took a quick look at some images of find-bar. Looks similar to the 'find' feature in android chrome - highlights text, provides a nav bar representing the document map with found words, etc. FF has an API available but to keep Chrome compatibility looks like I need SVG overlays and other workarounds. I'll look into it but don't expect anything too soon.

Found a library (mark.js) that does a good lightweight highlighting and integrates with CS pretty well. Already tested on page results with simple highlighting. I might get something set up sooner than I thought.

Basic functionality is in the repo. If you're familiar with sideloading for debugging you can test it out. Otherwise wait for the next release and it will be there.

Looks like FF has a find API that can highlight words in a webpage. Are you looking for something that essentially mimics ctrl-F ?

- Rated 1 out of 5by LawrenceSan, 6 months agoI've used many, many different extensions in several different browsers over many years. (I'm an experienced web developer, starting when the web was first invented, and can code several different web languages -- in other words, I'm not a newbie.)
ContextSearch web-ext has the most complicated, buggy preferences interface I've ever seen in a browser extension. I have it running in both Firefox and Chrome, and when it works it's great -- but trying to customize it, add search engines, etc. is a nightmare.
Currently one of the engines in my ContextSearch list is "Google Maps". It works fine in Firefox, but doesn't work at all in Chrome, just leads to a blank page. So I tried exporting it from Firefox into Chrome. Forget it! The export/import features in the extension's customization interface appears to just export the URL for the icon, not for the search engine itself? And some of the gazillion preferences-interface elements for this extension, in both browsers, appear as just solid gray blocks -- regardless of what theme I use, or whether Dark Reader is on or off, or what other interface options I choose for ContextSearch itself. Of the options (including links) that I can see clearly, most of them don't do anything like what their name implies or what I'd expect them to do.
I haven't given up on it because, for the engines I finally get working, it's very useful. But I spend more time wrestling with this interface than with all my other (many) installed extensions put together! - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 5599219, 6 months ago

bravo Mike B - Rated 5 out of 5by maikcheck, 9 months agoThis has very quickly become one of the essential extensions that I need to have installed on each of my devices’ web browsers. Adding search engines to use in conjunction with Firefox’s search shortcut keywords as well as being able to insert bookmarklets into the quick menu have been absolute game changers.

posted 9 months ago(edit) That bug has been found and will be fixed in the next release
The save bug is known and may have been addressed in a recent version. I know it's been a persistent annoyance.
As for the transparency, you should be able to set that yourself using CS Options -> General -> User Styles. Use CSS selectors to apply opacity levels to the menu. If you need help, open an issue at the github site.- Rated 1 out of 5by mimigu, 10 months agoVersions after May no longer work. I would like to downgrade to an earlier version but can't find it.

posted 10 months agoYou can find older versions here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/contextsearch-web-ext/versions/
But depending on what when wrong, that may not fix your problems. If you could elaborate on the issue, either here or at the support site, I'd be happy to go over some troubleshooting with you. https://github.com/ssborbis/ContextSearch-web-ext - Rated 5 out of 5by bezuma, a year ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by OzMerry, a year agoLove this add-on and use it all the time, but as of today 16-May-2023 (same date as last updated), it no longer works. Clicking on the icon in the overflow toolbar does nothing. I hope this can be fixed soon.
Edit: Thank you for responding. I've reported the issue on Github, as requested. I'm happy to try debugging advice (I'm in Australia, so probably a time difference).
Edit 2: Well I thought I'd fixed it by uninstalling and reinstalling it, but when I logged into my laptop today, it wasn't working again.Developer response
posted a year agoI wonder if something went wrong during the update. If reloading the browser didn't fix the problem, please open a new issue at the support site here.

There, I can better help troubleshoot and check for any problems. You can also edit your reply here and I'll try to talk you through some debugging. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13667925, a year ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by FQ1, a year agoThis is the best search tool I've ever used, but the context menu often disappears. I'm using Win10, Firefox 108.0.1. I've tried reinstalling it, but it doesn't work.

posted a year agoSorry for the late reply. If you're still having issues, please edit your review and elaborate or visit the github support site and I'd be happy to look into the problem. - Rated 5 out of 5by Gridlocked, a year agoThis actually works with any website that has a search bar - as far as I can tell.
IMO this is far better than any other 'context' search extension as all the rest are limited. - Rated 5 out of 5by lisa, 2 years agoWhat happened to the domain search engine, it just disappeared into thin air and disappears again if I import an older backup??? Hope this can be resolved because I use it quit often.
I do really love this highly adjustable search bubble, thank you for that!
PS I figured it out, had to add a new engine with:

posted 2 years ago(edit #4) 1.46.3 going up. If this doesn't solve the problem, please consider opening a new issue at the support site.
(edit #3) One more issue to fix. The engine disappears after you move it.
(edit #2) 1.46.2 going up. You can replace {subdomain} with {selectdomain} and get the tiled menus to display choices again.
(edit) I'm seeing the problem. I'll get a hotfix up soon. Thanks for the heads up
I'd be interested in trying your old config to see the engine disappear so I can correct that bug. If you you have a github account, open a new issue at the support site and I'll look into it. - Rated 5 out of 5by PEEM1, 2 years ago
