About this extension
Description
Algorithmic Feed Blocker removes algorithmic/recommended feeds from the following platforms:
  • Twitter/X (For You, Following, Explore, and “Discover more” on tweets)
  • Reddit (frontpage‑style feeds such as home/all/popular/best/hot/new/top/rising)
  • YouTube (homepage recommendations, Up Next/sidebar recommendations on watch pages, and YouTube Shorts with configurable behavior such as redirecting to the homepage, opening in the regular player,
    or prompting each time)
  • TikTok (For You, Following optional, Explore, and Live)
  • Instagram (home, Explore, and Reels)

Technical details
The blocker runs at document start to prevent content flashes, handles SPA route changes, and can optionally stop detached media playback so audio can’t leak through.
It uses a powerful, fine‑grained selector engine that targets specific DOM structures and removes only what’s necessary, making the blocker precise while keeping page performance high.

Optional settings include toggling an in‑page notice (with auto‑hide timer), choosing how YouTube Shorts links are handled, enabling/disabling Following feed blocking, and switching between light/dark/system themes. Settings are available in the toolbar popup and stored in browser.storage.local.

The extension makes no network calls, does not track anything, and does not collect any data.

Usage recommendations
Some advice on using this extension for the best possible experience:
- Since the extension does not support disabling blocking on a per-site basis (all specified algorithmic feeds are blocked by default): to protect best against impulsive behavior, i recommend setting a Firefox policy to have this extension force-installed. This completely removes the functionality to uninstall or disable the extension within Firefox, which provides waterproof protection against any possible impulsive bypass. Note however, when setting a force-installed policy, i generally recommend pinning a specific version of the extension and not setting the install url version to "latest" for security reasons, because if an extension ever gets compromised that could be a security risk.
- This extension fully supports Firefox mobile, and is most useful when you don't have any social media apps installed (i absolutely recommend this, since un-modded social media apps generally do not contain any anti-distraction features, while also having way too much power over the user to collect data and display advertisements). Most social media platforms (except TikTok) have more than good enough support for usage in mobile web browser usage anyways, and therefore i absolutely recommended for mobile users to only access social media platforms through Firefox mobile, with this extension (and obviously uBlock Origin) being installed.
