Only usability and accessibility count in working environments, especially for impaired users.
Currently Mozilla does NOT restrict addon access to Firefox settings, as this addon proves:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/toggle-resist-fingerprinting
Thus "Custom Scrollbars" should be able to offer much more options.
BUT: You can configure thick scrollbars manually in Firefox, as this tutorial shows. It works perfectly. Just translate the tutorial to your language.

skrevet 4 måneder sidenThe problem has never been with Firefox restricting access to settings. The problem is that Firefox has implemented scrollbars using the W3C standard, which doesn't support a wide scrollbar. This means that the browser simply does not support any width other than default, thin, and none. You can see the specification here: https://drafts.csswg.org/css-scrollbars/#scrollbar-width
You can, as you pointed out, change the scrollbar width globally across Firefox using some modifications to about:config. The challenge with this is that the user needs to do it manually since the add-on cannot change any settings in about:config. Long ago, add-ons used to be able change settings there, but when Firefox converted everything to use webextension technology that ability was removed and will not come back: https://discourse.mozilla.org/t/webextension-read-write-access-to-about-config/12268
The Toggle Resist Fingerprinting add-on that you referenced does have access to a very limited set of privacy-related settings, but only because Firefox has chosen to make those settings available to add-ons: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Add-ons/WebExtensions/API/privacy - Bedømt til 1 ud af 5af A FF User, 5 måneder sidenONLY GIVES YOU OPTION OF "THIN" AND "PLATFORM DEFAULT". SO STUPID! I WANT THICK BLOODY SCROLLBARS MATE!

skrevet 5 måneder sidenUnfortunately, this is a limitation of Firefox. It does not allow the extension to fully customize the width. I've requested this feature many times, but they refuse to add it. If they ever do, I would be happy to add it to the extension. Svar fra udvikleren

Why I don't know but I want my thick scrollbars back again, scrollbars I don't need a microscope and a pincet for to grab and scroll. So I installed this extension, bc it said it'd allow me to to customise to MY liking. Turns out with this extension I can make the scrollbars . e.v.e.n . t.h.i.n.n.e.r . but not thicker!!! Yay, I guess? What the actual frog!

"Get the mouse scrollbar you've always wanted—specify width and color."
Yeah. You can can specify the width, NONE OR THIN. And that does not even work. Whooohou.Svar fra udvikleren
skrevet 9 måneder sidenUnfortunately, this is a limitation of the Firefox browser. Unlike Chrome, Firefox does not allow complete control over the scrollbar width. - Bedømt til 1 ud af 5af Firefox-bruger 16492086, 10 måneder sidenNot useful. I've been trying for years to get rid of the useless Firefox scrollbar, which I never use, because it is too thin to try and click on it. I thought this add-on would allow me to finally do so. However, as clearly stated by the add-on when you try to change the scrollbar width, this is not allowed by Firefox. You can only change the scrollbar colors, but I don't know why anyone would want to do this
- Bedømt til 1 ud af 5af yv, et år sidendoes not work for firefox. the only option that worked - is customizing colors. and that is irrelevant, I can do it by myself w/o any extension.
- Bedømt til 1 ud af 5af Fonzie!, 2 år sidenOn macOS, the settings only apply to the addon page itself and nowhere else. The colours, width and auto-hide are still dictated by the OS or the website, no matter what I set.

skrevet 3 år sidenSorry to hear that the add-on wasn't working properly for you.
On some systems, the scrollbar colors may be overridden by the operating system itself. In that case, there is a setting that can be disabled in Firefox to allow the Custom Scrollbars add-on to change the colors. skrevet 3 år sidenHallo! Unfortunately, Firefox only offers limited support for scrollbar widths and wide is not currently an option. I'd love to add that option in the future, if it ever becomes available on Firefox. Svar fra udvikleren
skrevet 3 år sidenSorry to hear the add-on isn't working for you. If you send me and email at addons@wesleybranton.com with a description of the issue, what website(s) is not working and what settings you are using (or a copy of the backup file from the add-on), I'd be happy to take a look.Svar fra udvikleren
skrevet 3 år sidenCurrently, Firefox has 3 options for scrollbar width: thin, hidden and system default. I'm going to change the label for the wide option because on Firefox the option is whatever your operating system's default scrollbar is.
I'm trying to get the organization in charge of the scrollbar standard (W3C) to add a wide option to Firefox, but it's a long process.Svar fra udvikleren
skrevet 4 år sidenSorry to hear you are having issues with the add-on. If you send me an email at addons@wesleybranton.com with some more information about the settings you are trying to use and the page(s) you are having problems with, I'd be happy to try and track down the issue for you.
As a side note, there are some pages that the add-on is not allowed to modify. An example would be the Firefox add-ons website. So if the pages you are having problems with are Firefox pages, that could be the issue.
As well, please note that you currently need to refresh your tabs before the changes will appear on the website. That is being addressed in an upcoming update, but for now you need to refresh the tab. If that doesn't work, trying restarting your browser.
Hope that helps, but if not, feel free to reach out to the email address above. Thanks.- Bedømt til 1 ud af 5af Firefox-bruger 14945218, 4 år sidenI'm desperately trying to find a way to get rid of disappearing scrollbars and make all scrollbars normal with the thing at the top and bottom. I installed this but don't see any way to actually use it. No instructions, right clicking on a disappearing scrollbar does nothing. Just don't see any way for change a scrollbar. Needs instructions on how to use.

skrevet 4 år sidenWhen the add-on is installed, the settings page should automatically appear. If not, you can try reinstalling it. Alternatively, you can get to the settings by pressing the Firefox menu button, selecting add-ons, picking the Custom Scrollbars add-on and press the options tab.
If you still need help, email me at addons@wesleybranton.com and I'd be happy to help. It sounds like the add-on would be able to solve the problem you are having. Svar fra udvikleren
skrevet 4 år sidenSorry to hear that! Unfortunately, with the new Facebook design, they've made it impossible for the add-on to customize the scrollbars. Instead of using the standard scrollbars, they have built their own scrollbar system from the ground up so that they can have full control over the appearance of the way the scrollbars look and behave.
