Tempo Stats by Coconut

Tempo Stats is a local-first companion extension for the Tempo app on Android. It tracks what you listen to on web-based media players and syncs your playback history directly to your phone over your local network.

FEATURES
• Position-Based Tracking: Uses actual audio/video playback position to measure precise listen times, handling seeks and replays accurately.
• Multi-Platform Support: Tracks music out-of-the-box on YouTube Music, Spotify Web, SoundCloud, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, Bandcamp, Pandora, JioSaavn, Gaana, and more.
• Opt-In YouTube.com Tracking: Track standard YouTube.com by adding specific music channel names to your whitelist.
• Local Sync: Securely sends your listening history to your Android device using HMAC-SHA256 signatures over WiFi or hotspot.
• Offline Queue: Automatically queues play logs locally if your phone is disconnected and syncs when back on the network.
• Premium Dark UI: Check your live now-playing status, queue length, and sync statistics inside a sleek dark-themed popup.

HOW TO USE

Click the Tempo Stats extension icon in the toolbar.
Open the pairing tab (share icon) in the popup.
Enter your phone's local IP address, port (8765 by default), and security token shown on the "Desktop Link" screen in the Tempo Android app.
Click Connect to pair the extension with your phone.
Listen to music on any supported web player. The extension will automatically log plays and sync them to your phone.

PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS

Tempo Stats is built with a local-first, privacy-first design. All listening data stays on your device and is only transmitted directly to your paired phone on your local network. No external servers are used, and no tracking or third-party analytics are embedded.

• storage - Needed to save your paired device settings, sync queue, and user preferences locally.
• alarms - Used to schedule periodic retries for queued play events when your phone is temporarily unreachable.
• tabs - Used to query tab URLs of active media players to classify music sources and verify the media player origin.
• Host Permission (http://:8765/) - Needed to communicate with the Tempo Android app running on its default port on your local network.
