About this extension
Turn anything you can select in your browser into clean Markdown - no
flipping to a viewer, no pasting into a converter website, no cleaning up
afterwards.
Right-click a selection, choose Copy as Markdown, and the Markdown is on
your clipboard. Choose Export as PDF instead and the same selection opens
as a tidy, print-ready document.
Most of them mangle anything that is not a paragraph. Copy as Markdown is
built on Turndown, the same
converter used by some of the largest note-taking tools, with the GitHub
Flavored Markdown plugin enabled - so the messy parts come out right.
Pick Export as PDF and the selection is converted to Markdown, rendered
in a clean A4 layout, and handed to your browser's print dialog. Choose
"Save as PDF" as the destination and you get a real vector PDF with
selectable, searchable text - not a screenshot of your screen.
The same code ships as a Manifest V3 build for Chrome, Edge and other
Chromium browsers, and as a Manifest V2 build for Firefox. It also handles
the common annoyance of right-clicking in a tab that was already open when
the extension was installed: the extension injects its own content script
on demand and just works.
Bundled locally, unmodified, all under the MIT licence:
Turndown, turndown-plugin-gfm and marked.

- Code blocks keep their language. Fences are read from
language-,
lang-,highlight-source-andbrush:class names, plus
data-languageanddata-langattributes. If the code itself contains
backticks, the surrounding fence grows automatically so the block is never
broken. - Everything GitHub understands. Tables become pipe tables, task lists
become- [x]items, and strikethrough uses the double-tilde form that
every renderer accepts. - Structure survives. Nested and ordered lists keep their numbering and
indentation, headings use#style, and block quotes stay block quotes. - Links and images stay useful. Relative URLs are resolved against the
page you copied from, so they still work after you paste the Markdown into
a note, a ticket or a README. - Inline code is inline code. A
<code>element inside a paragraph no
longer gets double-wrapped the way naive converters do it. - Scripts and styles are dropped. You get the text, not the page's
plumbing.

- Page setup is A4 with sensible margins, and headings, tables, quotes and
code blocks are styled for paper. - Long code lines wrap instead of being cut off at the edge of the page.
- Images and web fonts are waited for before printing, so nothing comes out
as a blank placeholder.
- No accounts, no sign-in, nothing to configure.
- No network requests at all. The extension never contacts any server;
every library it uses is bundled inside it. - No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry.
- No page content is ever read outside of the moment you invoke it. The
content script only looks at your current selection when you click a
context menu entry, and it does nothing at any other time. - Nothing is written to disk. The one piece of temporary data the
extension needs - the Markdown it hands to its own print page - is deleted
as soon as that page has rendered it.
