About this extension
When searching the literature, titles and abstracts aren't always enough — a figure is worth a thousand words.
PubMed Figure Preview shows each article's figure thumbnails right under every PubMed search result (for open-access / PMC articles). Click to enlarge the high-resolution figure together with its full figure legend, so you can judge at a glance whether a paper is worth opening.
Features:
• Inline figure thumbnails in the results list, scroll horizontally
• Click to enlarge: the high-res figure is shown with its full legend; use ← / → to browse all figures of the article; one click opens the original article
• Publisher preview (optional): for new articles not yet in PMC, tries to show the graphical abstract / first figure from the publisher's page
• Smooth performance: lazy-loading + local cache; figures auto-load after "Show more results", with a manual refresh in the popup
• Bilingual (English / 中文) UI; adjustable thumbnails-per-article and more
Privacy: runs entirely locally, collects no personal data, no ads, no tracking; figures and legends come from public NCBI / PubMed pages.
Note: figures and legends are available mainly for open-access (OA / PMC) articles; paywalled or very recent papers not yet in PMC may have none.
This is a third-party tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) / NCBI / PubMed; "PubMed" is a trademark of NLM.
