About this extension
LinkGuard — spot phishing links before you click.
Phishing still starts with a link: a login page that looks like PayPal but isn't, a "DHL tracking" link hiding behind a shortener, a domain spelled with a foreign alphabet. LinkGuard scans any page's links and flags the tricks — right in your browser.
HOW IT WORKS
Click "Scan this page". LinkGuard examines every link on the page and scores it:
- Homograph & punycode traps — domains using lookalike foreign characters
- Typosquats — paypa1.com, netfIix.com and 25+ impersonated brands
- Brand-name abuse — your bank's name on a domain your bank doesn't own
- Hidden destinations — bit.ly, t.ly and other shorteners
- Deep subdomain chains, bait words, high-abuse domains
Each risky link gets a plain-language reason and a risk score from 0–100. You can also paste any URL into "Check a URL" for an instant verdict.
ALWAYS-ON MODE (OPTIONAL)
Turn it on and LinkGuard watches pages automatically, badging the toolbar icon with the risky-link count. Your browser will ask for permission to read pages — only if you enable this. Click-to-scan never needs it.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No accounts. No servers. No analytics. No network requests at all — every check runs locally on your device, so your browsing never leaves your machine. The only thing stored is your always-on preference, on your device.
LinkGuard helps detect common phishing patterns. No tool catches everything — always double-check before entering passwords or payment details.
Free. No subscriptions.
