Hi! Sorry for the late reply.
At the bottom of the extension's preferences page, you will see a header titled "Add a new search engine". To add a search engine, you need to fill in the line right below that header.
- if the first checkbox is checked then the search engine will appear in the context menu;
- to the right of the above checkbox is a textbox where you need to specify the name you want to give your search engine;
- followed by a keyword which you will be able to use in the address bar (i.e. omnibox). The way this works is that, in the url address bar, you start by typing "cs " (for Context Search) followed by the keyword you chose for the search engine you want to use (e.g. "ddg " for DuckDuckGo) followed by the search terms. So, if I want to search DuckDuckGo for "SpaceX", then I can type "cs ddg SpaceX" in the url address bar and hit enter;
- followed by a another checkbox which specifies if you'd like to use the added search engine to your set of multi-tab searches. What does this mean? Well, when you're using the context search list mode (i.e. not the icon grid), then you may have noticed that there's an item named "Multiple tabs search". When you click on that menu item it will open a new window with multiple tabs, where each tab will contain the search results of a search engine that has been checked using this checkbox. To summarize how to use Multi-tab search: you first check all the checkboxes (in the 4th column) that correspond to the search engines that you want to include to perform multiple searches in one go. Then, you click on the "Save Preferences" button and now you can use the "Multiple tabs search" from the context menu;
- in the last textbox on the line, you enter the search query string for the search engine you'd like to use. Here, you have the option to use %s or {searchTerms} in your search query string when the search terms are not located at the end of the url.
Once you have entered the above information, you can test whether it is valid and working properly by clicking on the "Test Search Engine" button. When you're satisfied, you can finally click on the "Add Search Engine" button.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.

How can I add links with this pattern to CS?
"www.example.com/search/"
I tried this,
"www.example.com/search/%s"
"www.example.com/search/?\s=%s"
etc.
but most of time it returns nothing or returns a debug page of the site that shocked me.
one real example for this problem is Nexusmod when searching for a game.
"https://www.nexusmods.com/search/"
How can I add it to CS ?
Please Help
Edit:
I just sent message to author, he is a nice guy.
The problem is the some website do not use the legecy method of URL search method such as google, youtube, etc. They use POST method and you need another addons for that I will leave the reply from Olivier him self, Thank you very much Olivier.

Hi Hassan,
I think the problem is that those websites use the POST method for the searches which my version of Context Search doesn’t support.
I actually don’t know how to add that feature to CS, so I can only recommend another very good extension which does support POST methods:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/contextsearch-web-ext/
Kind regards,
Olivier

Upd. Works like a charm. Thank you, sir!
Just for information. Image reverse searching is great, but I discovered it only after a month or so of using. So is the image info feature. Maybe it would be better to make them more notable somehow. Very happy with that extension, I use it for a while now. But. Recently the "Alt" key to show the Firefox menus stopped working in some tabs (like google search), but not every tab. Safe mode drove me to this extension. Must be a bug, no? Can you look into this?

The Page action icon should now only appear when an opensearch plugin is available from the website you're visiting. It makes it easier to add a search engine. I love this add-on so much! Very easy to use :)
I was wondering if there is a way to add the search engines that are on some manga sites using the WordPress system. Cause they attach &post_type=wp-manga at the end of the search so it's hard to get this add-on to include that开发者回应
Thank you, Sivana. I think that what you're looking for is to create aa search query string where the search terms may be in the middle of the string. The search query string is the generic url you would use to perform a search. Search query strings may contain the parameters %s or {searchTerms} where you'd like your search terms to appear, i.e. the selected text. If you need more help, feel free to email me with the address of the website you need a search query string for. Must have!
One small issue though:
The icon in address-bar is shown even if website is already in the search list.

I'll see if I can further improve things so that the icon is hidden if the search engine has already been added. Please bare with me.

Quite good add-on. It needs some initial configuration (basically, exclude unwanted engines, add some others et.c.), after which it works well.
PS. `Google Translate` settings seems to be broken, easily fixable though.
Edit (2022-02-04) It'd be interesting (I would say necessary for keep using this addon) to have a response/explanation on that (valid) objection: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/contextual-search/reviews/1798721/ - 评分 1 / 5来自 z0so,2 年前
