Only thing that would make it perfect is when viewing eBay images in search an older app would let you [while hovering] scroll through the images (ie 1 of 2 etc) with the mouse wheel. Either way this gets 10/10. Thank you for the effort.

- If you click "Add-on Links" --> Support site and go to the Github page, you'll see a notice that says "Note: This extension is being actively maintained and keeps evolving, although the code in this repo has stopped being updated after version 4.36.0"
Please interpret this as "We're adding malware and trackers into this extension that has access to all the pages you visit". Why else would the developer have any reason to hide the source code of new versions?
Edit: Yep, sure enough, found a reference to tracking in the "privacy policy"
Beginning with version 4.50.0 (released November 4, 2024), PhotoShow collects anonymous usage data to help improve features and usability. No personal or identifiable information is collected, and user privacy is a priority.
Edit (in response to the developer response, because there is no reply feature): "Someone cloned my open-source project and released a copycat extension" is a dubious explanation to switch to closed-source development. Your project is not unique in being cloned by someone. Clones are a phenomenon for all open-source projects, and what makes the original extension/software stand out is their commitment to open-source development + the community and reviews. Republishing under a new identity is fully supported by the MIT licence your repository uses.
What difference does it make anyway, if you're not grabbing user data? It shouldn't "raise concerns" if some users install your extension vs the clone, unless you're tracking and extracting user data.
"Anonymous usage data" - Maybe it's just me, but I don't want an extension that has access to ALL websites that I visit, from banking to university to work, to collect data at all. To what end? Just to let me zoom in on images and save me a click?Geliştiricinin yanıtı

The decision to stop updating the GitHub codebase was unrelated to data collection. It was made after someone cloned the open-source project, made minimal changes such as renaming and rebranding it, and then published it as a separate extension. While open source allows for reuse, republishing under a new identity raises concerns and prompted a change in how PhotoShow is maintained.
As for data collection, we never tried to hide it. Anonymous usage data was introduced starting from version 4.50.0 — well after the last GitHub update at 4.36.0. This data helps improve the product and is entirely anonymous. Full details about what is collected are clearly outlined in the privacy policy, and there’s also an option to disable it in the settings.
Currently, data collection is disabled by default for Firefox users due to additional development requirements on that platform. That's also why the option for disabling usage data collection is not present for Firefox versions. PhotoShow complies with the privacy and safety standards of all supported browser stores, which is why it passes their strict reviews for each update and remains available.

As mentioned, PhotoShow’s usage data collection can be disabled in the settings. You can also manage extension access on a site-by-site basis using the browser’s native permissions. If these features or the strict reviews conducted by browser web stores cannot be trusted, there is little else that would help—since an open-source extension could still release something different. Atualmente, o PhotoShow não oferece suporte à personalização de atalhos. No entanto, você pode ativar ou desativar alguns deles pela janela pop-up do PhotoShow (antes da versão 4.68.0) ou pela página de opções (a partir da versão 4.68.0).
