KeyMove searches and navigates pages on your device. Your searches and page content are not sent to the developer or a remote search service.
About this policy
This policy explains how the KeyMove browser extension, developed by Valentin Dimitrov, handles information. KeyMove provides in-page search and keyboard navigation. It does not require an account.
Information processed on your device
To find matches and let you act on them, KeyMove processes your search text, page text, control labels and attributes, link destinations, and relevant image information. This includes content in accessible embedded frames and open shadow roots. Page content may contain personal information, depending on the page you are viewing.
This processing happens locally in your browser. Search results, selections, and page indexes are temporary in-memory state, not a saved search or browsing history. Closing or reloading the page releases that page's state. Where necessary, the extension passes search and action information between its own components and frames within the same browser tab.
KeyMove checks the current website's hostname to apply your site preferences. It can inspect open tab URLs when installed to enable its interface on eligible pages. It does not maintain a record of the pages you visit.
Settings stored locally
KeyMove uses the browser's extension local storage (browser.storage.local) to remember preferences. These include appearance, highlighting, suggestions, activation behavior, keyboard shortcuts, search bar position and size, and saved per-site rules. A per-site rule stores the hostname and your chosen behavior, such as pausing KeyMove on that site.
These preferences stay in your browser profile until changed, removed, or the extension is uninstalled. KeyMove does not use the browser's extension sync storage or upload these preferences to the developer.
Actions you choose
When you use a copy action, selected text, a link or image address, or supported image pixels are written to your system clipboard. KeyMove does not read your existing clipboard contents. Clipboard data remains subject to your operating system's clipboard history and sync settings.
Following a link, opening an image, or activating a page control invokes the page or browser's normal behavior. The destination website may receive the resulting request or submitted information under its own privacy policy, just as it would if you used the mouse. KeyMove does not send your search query to that website as a separate search request.
Collection, sharing, and limited use
The extension does not send page content, search queries, browsing activity, or stored preferences to the developer or to analytics, advertising, or AI services. It includes no telemetry or remote crash reporting. The developer does not receive or sell this locally processed information.
KeyMove uses information obtained through browser access only to provide its in-page search, navigation, and user-requested actions. Its use of that information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or purposes unrelated to these features.
Why browser permissions are needed
Website access: read page content and display search, highlights, and navigation controls on supported pages.
Scripting: enable KeyMove on eligible pages already open when the extension is installed.
Storage: save the local preferences described above.
Browser restrictions still apply. KeyMove does not bypass protected pages, inaccessible frames, or browser restrictions on copying image pixels.
Your choices and deletion
You can change preferences and remove saved site rules in KeyMove's settings, pause it on individual sites, or restrict its website access using your browser's extension controls. Uninstalling KeyMove removes its extension local storage. To remove anything you copied, clear your clipboard and any clipboard history separately. The developer cannot access, retrieve, or delete your locally stored extension data for you.
Website and external services
The demonstration website is separate from the installed extension. Its demo processes the sample page locally and keeps demo preferences in memory for the page session. It does not change your installed extension's settings.
Visiting this website makes normal web requests to its hosting providers, which may process IP addresses and request metadata to deliver and secure the site. The website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which also receives the associated web requests. These requests do not contain the extension's search queries or page content. Browser stores, external sites, and any payment service you choose to visit operate under their own privacy policies.
Contact and updates
For privacy questions, contact Valentin Dimitrov at keymove.impulse550@passmail.com. If you email, the developer and the email services involved receive your email address and whatever you choose to include so your request can be handled. This is separate from the extension's local processing.
This policy will be updated when KeyMove's data handling changes. The effective date above identifies the current policy.
