"auto-play if width and height is less than ___ px" and separate shortcut for toggle

super useful and easy to use Rated 5 out of 5 stars

being able to pause a GIF to study a single frame is very handy. stopping distracting GIFs is nice, too.

Essential Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Much needed relief from distracting animations.

The thing i was looking for blocking F***cking gif-flash

Great addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very useful addon!
There is 1 bug: hotkeys works only in one keyboard layout. For example: there is the same key "Z" and "Я". I can set in settings Alt+Z and Alt+Я, and Alt+Z will work only in english keyboard layout, Alt+Я only in russian.
Can you add this 2 features:
1. Restarting gif with double cliking on it
2. Start playing gif after it fully loaded _without_ autostopping gifs by default
Thanks for great work!

It would have been perfect if GIF images had a text saying "GIF" on them to indicate they are GIFs.

Agreed! But I haven't found a viable way of accomplishing it - see https://github.com/simonlindholm/toggle-gifs/issues/16.

Excellent Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent addon with many options that are useful.
Hoping you will be ready to make future update for new GifV format.

Almost perfect Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I turned off GIF animations in about:config years ago because they were just so annoying. The only problem is that it cut me off from some humorous animations that I really did want to see. This extension is great! Now I can see cats do crazy stuff when I want to, but not get bogged down on pages full of animated junk. :-)

One request: Add a sub-option to "Auto-play on hover" that stops the animation once the mouse is moved off the GIF and/or once the mouse is clicked anywhere else on the page. Just because I want to see an animation, doesn't mean I want to see it repeat forever. I know I can use Ctrl+M, but I'm looking for a mouse-driven mechanism.

Happy to hear I wasn't the only one with that experience. :)

The auto-stop options sound like good ideas. I've implemented them both in https://github.com/simonlindholm/toggle-gifs/issues/17 (will make an AMO release in a few months I guess). I uploaded an XPI there for testing, so feedback welcome.

This is a must for tumblr.

В 31 версии мозилы... Rated 1 out of 5 stars

В 31 версии мозилы сильно грузит виртуальную память, вследствие чего лиса жутка тормозила. Удалил и лисичка снова стала летать!

I don't read Russian, but going by Google Translate your review is about bad memory usage/performance. That surprises me greatly - I've not seen any bad behavior, I know I've coded the addon to have minimal impact, and e.g. if I go to about:memory I see only 0.15MB of memory used. So it seems quite likely that you're blaming the wrong thing, or that there's a conflict of some kind. More info is appreciated if you find it.

great extension! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

works perfectly! thank you!

Breaks Firefox Hotkeys Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The add-on breaks the default Firefox hotkeys. I had to uninstall the add-on to get cut/copy/paste/find etc to work again.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.2).

:( That's terrible, and I don't see it on my machine!

If you are on an old Firefox version and fiddled with the extension shortcuts enough to get a MozPrintableKey, I have a build that fixes the problem here (currently under review): https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/toggle-animated-gifs/versions/

Otherwise, I'd appreciate an email/github issue with more information about configuration etc. so I can work this out!

Great extension but i can't find the icon on Firefox 29!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1).

If you mean a toolbar button - there is none at the moment. I'm planning on adding one at some point (see https://github.com/simonlindholm/toggle-gifs/issues/9), but finding a suitable icon for it is hard.

Updated review Rated 5 out of 5 stars

PAUSE key stopped working on 1.2.1
Please check that you are not breaking functionality that people rely on.

Issues fixed, review modified accordingly.

Left to do:
1) Pull request created to support the "Pause" key
2) Add a toggle button

Since the dev is responsive, I have no problem giving it a 5-star now, knowing that the remaining issues will be addressed.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1).

These should all be fixed in 1.2. Tumblr is notoriously weird, but at least the linked page should be ought to work now.

This is a great extension. A must-have. Could I request to add an option to autoplay when the gif loads?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1).

The way the extension works I sadly don't see a viable way how to implement that. I've added an option to wait for load for *hovered* images, though, which might be an okay substitute.

I this plugin made me to register an account here just to give a 5 star rating. I don't think this needs more words of praise

Excelent! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Exactly the type of addon I like - very simple with intuitive, quiet, but at-hand and ergonomic UI, which does EXACTLY what it promises to do.

May be just one thing to make it ABSOLUTELY perfect - please add "one frame forward" and "one frame back" button for paused GIFs for those occasions when you want to have a close look on one particular moment inside the animation.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1).

Thank you for the kind words - that's precisely the feeling I was aiming for. I agree that "frame forward"/"frame backward" buttons would be fantastic to have, but unfortunately the Firefox API I'm using for this doesn't provide that functionality. :(
