ProxyShield Privacy Policy

ProxyShield is a browser extension that allows users to configure, save, test, enable, and disable their own proxy server connections.

Data stored locally

ProxyShield stores the following information locally in Firefox using browser.storage.local:

• Proxy type
• Proxy hostname or IP address
• Proxy port
• Proxy username, when provided
• Proxy password, when provided
• Saved proxy profiles
• Extension settings, including WebRTC protection preferences

This information is stored only inside the user’s Firefox browser profile. ProxyShield does not upload saved proxy profiles or credentials to a ProxyShield-owned server.

Proxy authentication

When a user connects to an authenticated proxy, the proxy username and password are transmitted directly to the proxy server selected and configured by the user. These credentials are used only to authenticate the proxy connection.

ProxyShield does not operate the proxy servers entered by users and does not control how third-party proxy providers process data.

IP address and location checks

To test the proxy connection and display the active public IP address, ProxyShield may contact:

• api.ipify.org
• httpbin.org

To display the country associated with the active public IP address, ProxyShield may contact:

• ip-api.com

These services receive the public IP address associated with the request. Their handling of this information is governed by their own privacy policies.

Data not collected by ProxyShield

ProxyShield does not:

• Require a ProxyShield account
• Use analytics or telemetry
• Track browsing history
• Sell personal information
• Display advertising
• Share proxy profiles with advertisers
• Upload saved proxy credentials to the developer

Data deletion

Users can delete individual saved proxy profiles from the Proxy Vault. Users can also remove all locally stored ProxyShield data by uninstalling the extension or clearing the extension’s storage through Firefox.

Security

Users should only use proxy servers and proxy providers they trust. ProxyShield cannot guarantee the privacy, security, availability, or behavior of third-party proxy servers.

Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated when ProxyShield’s functionality or data practices change. Any material changes will be reflected in the add-on listing.
