Flow Recorder Privacy Policy

Flow Recorder ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our browser extension collects, uses, and shares information.

1. Information Collection
   Flow Recorder only collects data when the user explicitly triggers a "Recording" session.

Website Activity: We record clicks, keyboard inputs, and navigation events on the specific websites you choose to record.
Website Content: We capture DOM selectors, element text, and metadata (e.g., viewport size) necessary to generate automation scripts and interactive guides.
Extension State: We store local configuration and session data using your browser's local storage.
2. How We Use Information
The captured data is used exclusively for:

Generating automated test scripts (Playwright, Cypress).
Creating step-by-step interactive "Journey" walkthroughs.
Synchronizing recordings to your Flow Recorder cloud dashboard (if logged in).
3. Data Storage and Security
Local Storage: Recordings are stored locally in your browser until you choose to delete them or sync them to the cloud.
Cloud Syncing: If you are authenticated, data is transmitted over HTTPS to our secure servers for storage and team collaboration features.
No Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell your data. We do not use third-party tracking or analytics inside the extension.
4. Your Control
You can delete any recorded session at any time from the extension popup.
You can stop a recording at any time, which immediately halts all data capture.
The extension does not run or capture data on restricted pages by default.
5. Technical Permissions
Flow Recorder requests permissions (scripting, activeTab, storage) solely to interact with the webpage you are currently recording and to save your work. More details in flowrecorder.com/privacy
