It is one of the worst UX designs I have ever seen in a very long time. Extremely unintuitive, complicated, not effective.
It is called translator but as default it shows dictionary definitions and as now (15 minutes of attempts, much more than I feel it is reasonable to expect from any user for such a thing) I have not been able to make it work like other translators (for example S3, or the one which Firefox currently recommends) do out of the box.
It is FULL of "promising" functions.
But with this unaccessible UI and bad UX, it's mostly not even possible to know if they work.
What I was able to test, anyway, was not even working.
On top of that it's HEAVILY targeted to Chinese audience and you need a huge amount of time to change all default settings so that it won't show Chinese results.
after the offensive and arrogant answer of the developer I feel compelled to say this: if you are so prehistoric that you don't even know what UX Design means and why it's more and more being considered the most important aspect of any digital product in ALL major companies of the planet, then you should either inform yourself before continuing making unusable software, or you should stop making it and start selling ice cream in the park instead.
With such answers, also, you show that not only you have no idea of what a user centric design means, but that you are not even able to take negative feedback.
Your many happy users are mostly Chinese, so, no wonder you have many. Whatever you do for Chinese people you have many of them.
But for us western people, in 2020, your software is as useful as a floppy disk.
Or, just keep making useless software and bye bye.I can't say for "anybody", but if there is a FOSS with more than 20k users in Firefox, 200k in Chrome, thousands of 5 star reviews, and I don't know how to use it, I would probably ask help first and maybe leave suggestions on my own use case, instead of whining about how the world doesn't revolve around me.
Response to "EDIT."(Even though you also edited the content before EDIT.)
I believe you are the one who has been giving offensive accusations. I am just listing facts.
> you should either inform yourself before continuing making useless/unusable software, or you should stop making it and start selling ice cream in the park.
I am quite happy that statistics show Saladict has more than 300k users world-wide and keeps growing every single day.
> you don't care about users at all
What a wild accusation! Thousands of users have thanked Saladict for improving their language learning experiences. We are so grateful that we have replied to every one of them and keep making products that truely helped more people.
> you are not able to take negative feedback
It is all the constructive feedbacks from our beloved users(https://github.com/crimx/ext-saladict/issues) that keeps Saladict evolving. Do note that Saladict is not a business product. There is no "customer". We offer our free time to make products that improve people's daily lives and have no obligation to comfort a few irritable users.

Glad that you have noticed there are products that are made for other people in the world. It is not optimized for western people because of the limited feedbacks. We are open to any suggestion that may improve the experience.
