peek for Gmail Autor: Sam Bent

Click a PDF in a Gmail draft and the browser downloads it. peek makes it open in the browser's own viewer instead.

Gmail marks draft attachment links as "download" (disp=safe). peek changes that one parameter to inline when you open the link, so PDFs and images show right in a tab. Nothing else changes.

• Opens PDFs and images in the browser's viewer
• Gmail's Download button still downloads
• Files the browser cannot display still download as normal
• Works with every signed-in Google account
• Nothing to configure; collects no data
• Free software, GPL v3

How it works: one static declarativeNetRequest rule that only matches top-level navigations to mail.google.com/mail/u/N/…view=att…disp=safe. The add-on contains no JavaScript, so it cannot read your mail or any page.
