Offramp sends x.com and twitter.com links to a Nitter mirror before Firefox sends the request to X. Read public posts without X's scripts or a login wall.

Update, 7 September 2026: Nitter's maintainer has confirmed that the project will continue following legal advice. Public instances are expected to return. XCancel serves profiles and posts again, verified in Firefox on 7 September 2026. Availability still varies. See the Nitter announcement.

You choose the mirrors and their order. When a mirror request fails, Offramp tries the next mirror on your list. A mirror can return a notice or a browser challenge without reporting an HTTP error. Offramp cannot automatically detect every page that fails to show a post. You can switch mirrors in the popup.

Press Check to request information from status.d420.de. Check also requests the homepage of a configured mirror when no tracker or recorded result covers it. A homepage response does not prove that posts load. The tracker may be unavailable or out of date. From version 2.0.5, Offramp rejects empty readings and measurements older than one hour. You decide whether to apply its list suggestions.

• Send image requests through the mirror's proxy.
• Remove supported tracking parameters from links.
• Open an X link on a mirror from the right-click menu.
• Pause one tab from the popup, or pause all redirects with a keyboard shortcut.
• View statistics stored on your device. Private windows are never counted.
• Choose from six colour palettes with day and night colours.

Offramp has no server of its own and sends no analytics. It contacts the public tracker when you press Check. By default, it also contacts the tracker when you open an X link in a non-private window and its cached reading has expired. You can turn this automatic check off in settings. The tracker sees your IP address and the request time. The request does not name the post or account you want to read. Firefox therefore shows a browsing activity declaration. Direct mirror checks contact the corresponding mirrors.

Firefox asks you to grant site access before Offramp can redirect links. Pages that Nitter cannot show, such as notifications, stay on X. Embedded posts are not redirected. Video playback and video routing depend on the mirror. Offramp does not redirect requests to video.twimg.com.
