How It Works :

Job Copilot is a free, fully open-source browser extension that helps you apply to jobs faster without ever submitting anything on your behalf. Everything happens right inside your browser; there's no external server or database involved, so your resume, profile, and API key never leave your computer except to talk to the AI provider you choose. Because the code is open source, anyone can inspect exactly what it does there's nothing hidden.

1. Set Up Once:
   Add your resume (in plain text) and fill in your profile details things like your name, contact info, work experience, and job preferences.
   You can save multiple versions of your resume for example, "Back-end-Focused," "Fronted-Focused," or "Staff Platform" each with its own profile details. Pick one as your default, so it's automatically ore-selected whenever you open the extension, and switch between the others with one click whenever you're applying to a different type of role.
   You'll also connect an AI provider of your choice (like OpenAI, DeepSeek, or a free local option like Ollama) by entering an API key. This is what powers the writing and matching features.
2. Make It Sound Like You
   Every AI feature is built on a locked template that keeps the output reliable and well-structured but you can add your own custom instructions to each one. Want your cover letters shorter, your summaries more formal, or certain phrases avoided entirely? Just add a note and it's applied every time that feature runs.
3. Browse Job Postings As Usual:
   Whether you're on LinkedIn, Greenhouse, Indeed, a company careers page, or almost anywhere else just open the job posting and click the extension icon.
4. Let the Extension Do the Heavy Lifting:
   From the popup, you can:
   Get a Quick Match score a fast 0–10 rating of how well you fit the role, with plain-language reasons why
   Generate a professional summary a tailored few sentences highlighting your best-fit experience for that specific job
   Create a cover letter a complete, ready-to-edit cover letter grounded in your actual resume (it won't invent experience you don't have)
   Auto-fill application forms it scans the form fields on the page and fills them in based on your profile and resume
   Draft message replies type a quick note about what you want to say, and it writes a polished reply matching the tone of the conversation
5. You're Always in Control:
   The extension never submits anything automatically. Every generated summary, letter, form fill, or reply is shown to you first, you review, edit if needed, and decide when (or if) to send or submit it.
6. Save Your Favorite Searches:
   If you're job hunting on LinkedIn, you can build and save custom search filters (title, location, remote preference, experience level, etc.) so you can jump straight back into the searches that matter to you.
