• Volume gesture: slide up or down on the right side of the player to raise or lower the volume. Sliding to 0% mutes the video; sliding back up turns the sound on again.
• Brightness gesture: slide up or down on the left side of the player to make the picture brighter or darker (100% down to 10%).
• A small on-screen label shows the current volume or brightness level while you slide.

Changed

• In short-video feeds, vertical swipes on the left or right side now control brightness and volume. Swipe in the middle of the screen to move to the next or previous video.
• Double-tap to skip and hold for 2x speed still work as before on both sides; a slide only starts once your finger clearly moves up or down.

Compatibility

• Now installs on Firefox 115 and later (previously 140) and Firefox for Android 120 and later (previously 142), including Firefox ESR 115 and 128.

Notes

• Browsers do not allow extensions to change the device's real screen brightness, so the brightness gesture darkens the video with an overlay instead. Brightness resets to 100% each time the player opens.

What’s new

Tapping the “Open Player” pill now opens a built-in video player instead of sending the video to an external app.
Works on Firefox for Android (142+) and desktop Firefox (140+).
Plays the page’s own video, so streams that external players couldn’t open (blob/HLS streams) now play.

Built-in player

Thick seek bar: grab it anywhere, and drag away from it to scrub slower.
Double-tap (or double-click) the right side for +10 s and the left for -10 s. Keep tapping to go further.
Hold the right side for 2x speed, or the left to rewind.
Tap to show or hide the controls.
Pinch to fill the screen and crop black bars.
Swipe up or down through short-video feeds.
Quality, audio track, playback speed and subtitles (site tracks or your own .srt/.vtt files).
Season and episode picker on sites that have one.
Brightness, contrast, saturation and a warm night-light mode. Your choice is remembered.
Skip intro: learns a series’ opening on your device and offers to skip it from the third episode.

Changes

The pill’s label is now “Open Player”.
Removed the “open in external app” feature (VLC, MX Player and others) and the stream-URL detection that went with it.
Permissions reduced to storage and activeTab.
Nothing is collected or sent anywhere, and the extension makes no network requests.
You can turn it off per site from the toolbar popup.

Known limitations

Works best with an ad blocker, because the pill can attach to an ad video.
Rewind is stepped seeking, since browsers can’t play backwards.
Volume stays on your device’s buttons on Android.
Quality selection works on sites using standard source lists, YouTube, hls.js, dash.js, Shaka or Playerjs.
No keyboard shortcuts yet on desktop.
