PromptPaste Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 19, 2026

PromptPaste processes text only when you deliberately choose an action such as Correct, Rewrite, Run selected prompt, or a custom action. It does not operate a developer-controlled server and does not include analytics, advertising, or tracking.


PromptPaste stores the following settings in Firefox extension local storage:

• your selected provider and model;
• API keys you enter for cloud providers;
• your local Ollama URL;
• prompts, prompt variables, custom actions, and interface preferences.

These settings are not sent to the PromptPaste developer. You can remove them by clearing the extension's data or uninstalling the extension.


After you explicitly invoke an action, PromptPaste sends the following directly from Firefox to the provider you selected:

• the text you selected, which may include website content or personal communications such as an email or chat message;
• the prompt and options required to perform the selected action;
• the configured model name; and
• for cloud providers, the API key needed to authenticate the request.

PromptPaste supports Groq, Gemini, OpenRouter, Cerebras, OpenAI, and Vercel AI Gateway. Their processing and retention of requests are governed by their own privacy policies and terms. If you select Ollama, requests are sent only to the configured localhost or 127.0.0.1 server.

PromptPaste does not transmit the selected text merely because you select it. Transmission starts only after you choose a PromptPaste action. PromptPaste does not store the selected text or generated response after the page session ends.


The PromptPaste developer does not receive, sell, rent, or retain your selected text, prompts, API keys, or generated results. Data is shared only with the provider you choose so that provider can return the requested result. The provider's own retention policy may apply.


You can:

• use a local Ollama server instead of a cloud provider;
• change or remove an API key at any time;
• disable the action dot while continuing to use the popup, context menu, or shortcuts;
• avoid submitting sensitive text to a cloud provider; or
• uninstall PromptPaste and remove its locally stored settings.
