Entity Highlighter colors the named entities on a web page so you can scan an article in seconds.

WHAT IT HIGHLIGHTS
• Persons
• Countries and locations
• Institutions
• Geopolitical terms
• Security terms
• Academic terms
• Dates and times
• Key noun phrases

Each type has its own color. A floating legend shows the count for each type, and you can click a legend item to show or hide that type.

HOW TO USE
1. Open the add-on settings and enter the address and API key of your analysis server.
2. Open any page and click the toolbar button.
3. Choose "Highlight" for the whole page, or select some text and choose "Highlight selected text".
4. Choose "Clear" to remove all highlights.
You can also paste text into the popup to analyze it there.

REQUIRES YOUR OWN SERVER
The language analysis runs on a server that you host and control (a FastAPI service using spaCy and NLTK, deployable on Render, Google Cloud Run or your own machine). The add-on does not include or use any third-party service. You can enter several server addresses, and it fails over to the next one if a server is down.

PRIVACY
• The add-on works only when you click it. It does not run in the background on pages.
• When you click Highlight, the visible text of the current page (or your selection) is sent to the server address you configured, and nowhere else.
• Form fields, passwords and hidden content are never read.
• The add-on has no analytics, no ads and no tracking.
• Your server address and API key are stored locally in your browser and are not synced.
• Do not use it on banking, email or other sensitive pages.

LIMITS
Entities are detected within each block of text, so a name split across several tags can be missed. Pages that redraw their content may remove highlights; click Highlight again to refresh. English text only.
