Extensions update automatically and silently. Extensions Update Tracker records every one of those updates, so you can always answer a simple question: what changed, and when?

Every update is stored with the version it replaced and the moment it was detected. The toolbar badge counts what you have not reviewed yet; the history keeps the rest.

Who it is for

Anyone who would rather have a record than a surprise. Extensions change hands, change behaviour and change permissions, and by default all of it happens in the background without a trace. An extension update history turns "this extension started acting strangely last week" into a date and a version number you can check.

Permissions, in plain words

• Management — reads which extensions you have installed and their version numbers. This is what makes update detection possible.
• Notifications — shows the update alerts.
• Storage — keeps the update history on your own device.

There are no host permissions and no content scripts: the extension cannot see the pages you visit or what you type on them.

Privacy

No account, no analytics, no servers. The extension makes no network requests at all. Your update history stays in your browser's local storage and is never sent anywhere.
