Fire Commander

Great! Avaliado em 4 de 5 estrelas

I like minimalistic software, so this is right up my street... Thanks a lot to the creator!
There's only two issues:
1) The icon puts itself on the far right side of the main toolbar and can neither be dragged around (although it's possible to drag the other icons *around* it) or removed altogether. Note: I have plenty of other addons installed, so this might be the result of addons clashing.
2) There seems to be no option to change the keyboard shortcut ALT+C, which is may already be used depending on the Firefox interface language (e.g., it's used for browsing history in German Firefox).
Other than that, great add-on.

Works fine, just as it should. Avaliado em 4 de 5 estrelas

Works fine, just as it should. Just two things that might be improved in a future version:
1 - Switching between various languages should be more straight forward, i.e. without having to go into add-ons/settings each time.
2 - It should be possible to transliterate a whole page immediately, without having to highlight the text first.

InstantFox Quick Search

Excellent usability, but what about that Santa hat?! Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

This is an excellent add-on both in terms of function and usability. A nice touch is the "Omnibar" feature (integration of address bar and search bar). But isn't it about time the Santa hat that appeared on the magnifier-glass icon some time before Christmas finally went away?

NumExt - Numbered Tabs

Excellent Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

The good news is, is this an excellent add on, and it still works fine in Firefox 25 in spite of having been abandoned by the developer. The bad news is, not only did the developer abandon it, he also took the help page down and doesn't respond to requests to put it back it. Trouble is, the default keyboard shortcut Alt+X may conflict with other extensions, or in German Firefox versions, with the Firefox shortcuts (in German Firefox, Alt+X opens the "Tools" menu). Here is how to change the NumExt shortcut to something else in a German Firefox: Type Alt+X to open Tools. Press N or use the mouse to select "NumExt (exec) from Tools - this opens a text field on the add-ons bar. In this field, type "execkey Y" to set the shortcut to "Alt+Y". Restart Firefox, and that's it.Another useful set of commands is "num" vs. "nonum" to show or hide the numbers on tabs.

Edit: @Ali Abbas, thank you so much!
BTW, just in case someone wants to fork it, the source code is available here:

Send to Kindle for Mozilla Firefox

Absolutely unusable in its current state Avaliado em 1 de 5 estrelas

I've been using the Send to Kindle feature of Readibility so far and was please to see Amazon finally released an "official" extension of their own. However, in it's current state this is simply a usability nightmare. The hotkeys are supposed to be ALT+K and ALT+P. However, it also triggers for several other key combinations: CTRL+C (copy - copied text doesn't up end on the clipboard, instead the Send to Kindle dialog comes up), SHIFT+arrow keys (so you can't highlight text with the keyboard any more), ALT+TAB (switching to another program). As a result, Firefox has become unusable for me.The question is, why don't the other reviewers mention those problems? It may well be that they don't highlight and copy text from websites using the keyboard (it works alright using the mouse), and don't switch tasks with ALT+TAB. Or this could be caused by a conflict with other extensions:The description contains a disclaimer: " The extension may also not work properly if you have extensions that block the use of JavaScript running. " I have no idea if this is causing this behavior, but even if it isn't this would be yet another reason not to use Send to Kindle: NoScript is an absolutely essential security extension that no one in their right mind would be willing to sacrifice for Send to Kindle. To be sure, I also have dozens of other addons, so this may be the result of other incompatibilies, too. The only way to find out would be to deactivate all of them except Send to Kindle, then switch them back on one by one and see what happens. But why would I want to do this when Readabiltiy works just fine (as well as a few other unofficial Kindle-support extensions)? There's no reason to put up with this.

Fit Images (restartless)

Avaliado em 4 de 5 estrelas

Nice alternative to Image Zoom, which is no longer working in newer versions of Thunderbird - thanks!

Just 4 stars because there is still some room for improvement: It would be great if future versions would also let you rotate images, the way Image Zoom did. (I keep getting photos in landscape mode that should have been portrait mode and vice versa.)

Find In Tabs

Essential add-on for everyone who does a lot of research. Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

I was heartbroken when this stopped working in Firefox 3.6 or 4 (don't remember). As the previous reviewer said, it's now just a matter of updating the max version in the install.rdf file. I have uploaded a new version here:
This is identical with except the max number is set to 20.*.*
If you don't trust xpi files from a stranger ;) here's how to do it yourself:
1) Unzip the .xpi file with a file compression software. Don't know how? Just rename the extension to .zip and click on it.
2) Open install.rdf in a text editor (like Notepad). If you don't know how to do it, change the extension .xpi to .txt and double-click on the renamed file.
3) Go to the line that says "<em:maxVersion>3.5.*</em:maxVersion>" and change it to a higher version as needed (my version is <em:maxVersion>20.*.*</em:maxVersion>, but of course it must at least be the version you're currently using). Close and don't forget to save. If you renamed the file to install.txt, change it back to install.rdf.
4) Re-zip all unzipped files and save as .xpi (or rename from .zip to .xpi after saving, if you changed the extension).
5) In Add-ons manager, click on the "cogwheel" icon next to the search field and select "install from file".

I wonder why Mozilla continues to treat this wonderful add-on as "dead." To anyone who can, feel free to upload my unofficial update to

SciLor's Grooveshark Unlocker for Germany

Works as advertised. Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

Thanks, works like expected: Provides instant access to Grooveshark in Germany without the need to fiddle around with proxy settings. It's a bit slow sometimes, which is of course inevitable, and the German "apologies" page does appear from time to time, but each time it disasappears after one or two seconds. Schönen Dank!

Disclaimer: I'm not saying Grooveshark is legal or morally legitimate - I just resent the idea of governments telling people what they are supposed to look at (or listen to) on the internet. For as long as the site as such exists and you decide to use it, please do so responsibly. Use it to discover artists, not to exploit them.

Copy Urls Expert

Useful and works as it should. Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

There are quite a lot of extensions that let you copy the URLs of tabs, but this is the only one I know of that lets you - among other things - easily copy the URLs of a specific window. Useful especially if you organize sessions into windows with tabs relating to specific topics.

Close Multiple Tabs

Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

Does what it says without causing any trouble. However, for the sake of completeness, its job can also be done with TabHunter, which also lets you jump to tabs, and search inside their titles, URLs, and even inside the pages themselves. The only difference is that tabs to be closed can't be selected with checkboxes, but have to be clicked while holding down CTRL (like files in Explorer) and then closed from the context menu. There also is an extension called Multiple Tab Handler which lets you select tabs and do various things with them (including closing them). Those two make this extension pretty much obsolete. Still, I'm giving it five stars because it works as advertised and it wouldn't be fair to compare it with the competition when it gets its job done just fine.

Thanks so much! Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

Thanks for updating and improving this! An essential add-on for everyone who must keep many tabs open at a time. One reason less to stick to :)

Very useful little tool Avaliado em 4 de 5 estrelas

A very useful tool that can save you a lot of time if you often copy and paste pieces of text into a collection. E.g., if you want to archive everything you post to forums in a single file.
Here's some proposals for future versions:
- append text on top of a file instead of at the bottom, to put items in reverse chronological order (i.e., most recent first);
- add a hotkey so you can use it while keeping your hands on the keyboard (should be customizable);
- give this a more informative name, such as "SendToFile" (which I guess is what "stf" stands for).

ScribeFire Classic

ScribeFire Classic forever... Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

Although the old version of ScribeFire did feel a bit clunky in some places, the author Chris Finke shouldn't have tried to reinvent his tried and tested extension like he did with "ScribeFire Next." The new interface takes a long time to get used to, and too many functions that made ScribeFire so useful in the first place are missing from it. I understand Chris wants to move on and abandon the old version, but I do hope that somebody else will continue to look after and keep ScribeFire Classic up to date. Unfortunately I don't have the time and know-how. :(

Adds an IMHO essential function and works without any hassle. The only thing I would like to see added: support for URLs like ""—it should be possible to go from there to "". (Admittedly, I have no idea how hard this would be to code; apparently it ain't trivial, otherwise the author would probably have taken care of it already.) Also, a SeaMonkey version would be nice to have; its lack is one of the things that keep me from using SeaMonkey more often.

Thanks, excellent! Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

If you're like me, that is, if you tend to keep hundreds of tabs open, this is an excellent tool. However, almost everything can be improved, so here are two feature requests:
* The hotkey should be made configurable—on a German keyboard, Tabby is a bit uncomfortable to reach, you need to press CTRL+SHIFT+' to get the single quote. Worse, the key combination may be required by other applications.
* The height of the results list should be configurable, too. I often get dozens of search results in Tabby, but the list doesn't display more than six at a time, so you need to scroll to see all results. This makes sense for small screens and/or few tabs, but when you have a vertical resolution of 1,200 pixels it means most of it is going to waste and you need to more time to find what you're looking for.
