Speed Dial

My Permanent Homepage(s) Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

Once you get used to the speeddial, it's really hard to be just satisfied with a single homepage. I'm a very visual person so instead of names, I remember how a site looks, so this is just perfect tool for site recognition. I have 6 panels, with 15 sites each, so this almost serves as a secondary bookmark utility. You can even put a picture URL in the URL entry, so each cell can be made into a "gadget-like" utility, updating whenever the picture changes. I particularly like it for using to see if I have a new mail in my hotmail and gmail acounts, but I also use it for my local weather report, including the air quality graph. No other extension could possible do that.

NOTE: The defaults of the program are meant to work with standard 4:3 screen, so if you have a widescreen you might be a bit put off, but it's very easy to change. Just go to the Advanced Options of Speeddial, then Sizes panel, then under Width Modifier change it to 100% "of the available size". Voila! Now the cells will cover your entire screen.

Googlepedia

Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

Googlepedia's updated version 0.61 can be downloaded from the author's website. It fixes the problem with the "white space", which was caused by Google redesigning their web pages. This is one of the best Firefox extensions of all time.

There's an issue with clicking on wikipedia images. For some reason, this addon screws up the URL of the pic.

Ex. query "giraffe"

Image URL is:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9f/Giraffe_standing.jpg/230px-Giraffe_standing.jpg

Image URL should be:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9f/Giraffe_standing.jpg

I was skeptical, but this extension is indeed very useful, especially if you have a widescreen. I suspect the same thing could be done with CSS and Stylish, but this extension neatly takes care of it all. The only feature I could suggest is perhaps customizing the result page to other sites than wikipedia, but I guess that would cause a problem for naming this extension. :P

clickngo

Avaliado em 4 de 5 estrelas

Simple but quite useful. I like the fact that it's tiny, but has one annoying feature. If the pasted string is detected to be not a URL (ex "John Smith") it will return a useless error message instead of just letting Firefox take care of it.

I really like simple extensions which like this which add functionality without any fluff. The middle button is underused in all applications but this extension takes care of that.

MediaPlayerConnectivity

Avaliado em 2 de 5 estrelas

Very poorly written extension. Out of the box, I could only get the MP3's to launch external player. All others were still trying to download first. Wave files actually function worse than the Apple plugin. The configuration is a total mess.

Launchy

Good but hasn't been updated in a looong time, and has major bugs, such as the inability to send links to applications.

Make Link

Buggy Avaliado em 2 de 5 estrelas

It's a useful tool, but it simply doesn't work. Everytime you start Firefox, this extension refuses to work until you manually go to the options, modify settings and save it. Then it works. But you have to do it EVERY TIME you start Firefox. Pain in the butt...

Delicious Bookmarks

Great Extension but Has a Primitive Search Avaliado em 4 de 5 estrelas

I do like this extension and despite the negative reviews here, I didn't find Firefox any slower than usual.

My main reservation is the very primitive search function. It responds properly to single-tag searches, but unlike its website counterpart, if you type in two tags, it returns the OR operation, not the AND. So for example, "online games" will return websites tagged "online banking" and "standalone games". And you can forget about using more complicated operators like +, -, or XOR.

The tags are grouped in a tree-like list, which is OK, but not terribly useful. I'd like to be able to see the most popular tags as a cloud.

Good but Needs Work Avaliado em 4 de 5 estrelas

The tag cloud is a good idea but the edit function doesn't seem to work (my textboxes are frozen for some reason). The search function right now consists of clicking on one tag a time. This is OK if you have only a couple of dozen tags, but if you have hundreds of them then you definitely need a search box, because they simply won't fit all on that tiny screen.

Nice, but the Login Prompt Is Too Annoying Avaliado em 4 de 5 estrelas

I applaud the effort, but the incessant login prompts every time you use this extension are just a pain in the ass. Until that is resolved, I'll have to find something else.

New "Stable" version doesn't work for me but Nightly Build does Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

If you can't get the new version to work, try the latest nightly build which you can find here:

http://bugs.code.downthemall.net/trac/wiki/NightlyBuilds

It also has a link to older builds.

ClumsyFingers

Just what I was looking for Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

I hate that Firefox feature more than anything. I couldn't believe there's no way to disable it, but finally there's this extension.

Tab Mix Plus

Better than Opera Tab Avaliado em 5 de 5 estrelas

I was skeptical at first. I thought they were too many superfluous options which did little to enhance browsing, but I was wrong. The "Protect/Lock" feature finally won me over and now I can't go without it. Together with the Menu Editor, I was able to make Firefox tabs behave just like Opera's tab, but now with far more functions. Highly recommended.

Liquid Words

Overrated Ainda sem avaliação

First of all, it's a spyware. It sends click info to the company each time you use it. Second of all, this isn't anything revolutionary. Opera has had this for years, fully customizable by the user. There are also several Firefox extensions which let you customize word searches, such as SmartSearch.

Research Word

Reminds me of Opera Avaliado em 4 de 5 estrelas

This is the feature which I was most sorely missing after I switched from Opera. I like the fact that the menus are fully editable, although too bad it can't be done in a text file. If it also had the a shortcut searchable from the address box, it would be perfect. (for example "yt simpsons" would translate into "www.youtube.com/search?query=simpsons")
