  • Ask a silly question, how to show up the GUI. I am using FireFox 10.x and installed RESTClient. but failed to figure out how to show the UI in 30 mins!!!
  • I really missed file upload feature in this plugin, so i have developed an iphone app for the same feature.

    The link is :-

You can debug the response of your php service and check the file upload from iphone using this app -

It was really helpful to debug serverside code.
  • This is a GREAT plugin. It would be nice though if there were compatible plugins for other browsers like Chrome. That way files saved from one tool are compatible in another. I've switched away from the memory hog of Firefox a while ago, but LOVE your plugin...
  • Nice plugin. Only thing I really miss so far is support for digest authentication.
  • 应答首部不能复制。能不能开放这个地方
  • Excellent tool but not available for FF7 :-(
Makes me to downgrade firefox :-(
  • This is very good tool but, I will suggest an enhancement which will make even better currently the o/p is read only can it be editable or if we can allow copy of the result then it will be very useful.
  • East Asian languages are not well supported.
"XML Parsing Error" occurs due to some Chinese character in request body.
  • Looks promising, but doesn't work for web development.

It picks up the headers, but you can't view the headers in the original text format. Also, if you have body content that's non-html/rest, you can't view that either, even it if it's text.
  • Fixed some of the minor annoyances I had previously in that it now remembers all the field values on re-open and the json highlighting works!
  • Quick, simple and very useful!Would be even better if syxtax/index/color highlighting would work.
And it does even work in the FF4 nightlies (just fix the maxVersion in install.rdf).
  • I'm using this to test oauth and was wondering why the tool is removing oauth_verifier parameter from the header everytime I do a POST request
  • I find this very useful as an add on.

I seem to be running int a bug. The javascript error console shows:

RESTClient: getResource INFO:NS_ERROR_FAILURE: Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIXMLHttpRequest.setRequestHeader]

I sent a post request to some URL after adding the below headers:

    X-CT-DOMAIN 1234.

    The request never reaches server.

However If I initially post the request with some other header name like ABCD and then edit the header name to X-CT-DOMAIN then it works.
  • One missing feature is "load request body from a file". I need to send binary data to a REST service, but pasting it is a problem here.
  • I also like this extension...
So, in about:config , I created a new boolean entry extensions.checkCompatibility.3.6 that I set to false to make it work and it seem to work fine for now...

It is a good workaround waiting for a version compatible with FF 3.6.
  • not available for FF 3.6 :-(
  • good extension.

    missing features:
    1. save requests so they can be re-used (and edited) later
    2. stop button
    3. adding request headers is cumbersome. why not just write it in a text area? writing: 'Content-Type: text/xml' (without the quotes) means only an addition of ':' in place of mouse click and 2 tabs. Editing, copying, deleting is then a lot easier
    4. request history - would be nice to see each response
    5. maybe have request prototypes. e.g., if i'm querying a service i may have several resources i'm querying. then i'd like to be able to change one parameter (e.g., server name - qa/dev) and have all queries update automatically
  • I love this tool, it has made testing REST APIs much easier. I find the interface smart and easy to use compared with some alternatives.
  • Awesome tool for RESTful services development!
And ya, it does support cookies.. My app depends on cookies to be sent along with REST requests.. I login to the app in one tab, open RESTClient and send requests..

    Thanks for the add on!
  • Awesome tool..! I can now test my RESTful services within seconds.. I recommended this to many colleagues as well..

And ya, it works for applications with cookies as well. I login to my app in one tab, open this and send the REST requests, which need the cookies to be sent along with each HTTP request..

    Thanks for the add on..!!
  • Excellent tool, used in serious work for supplier relationship management and delivery acceptance testing, well done Chao ZHOU
  • It seems to send cookies for me, and is certainly very handy. Thanks for the great app!
  • Awesome! A great tool for RESTful service development!
  • Very nice tool! Helped me a lot to develop a WebDav service.
  • It runs as a separate application. It doesn't send the existing browser cookies for that host/domain with the request. In my case my webdav server is protected by an external authentication website. It needs the Cookies to verify that the authentication is done already and SSO is enabled. After I login to the Authentication server using browser when I invoke this extension, it doesn't send the cookie to webdav server and webdav server send the redirection URL to this extension which it doesn't understand properly.
