YouTube Everywhere Autor: thesameoldsong

When an embedded YouTube video fails, choose “Retry here” to try playing it on the page, or “Open on YouTube” to watch it in a new tab. Supports YouTube and youtube-nocookie embeds, including those on Reddit.

HOW IT WORKS
A small banner appears when an embedded player shows an error. Choose:
• Retry here — load a fresh player in the same place, without leaving the page.
• Open on YouTube — open the same video directly on YouTube.

The replacement player uses native YouTube controls and keeps a direct video link available below it. If autoplay is blocked, press Play.

FEATURES
• Detects player errors regardless of the error message’s language.
• Supports dynamically added embeds and nested frames.
• Preserves supported start/end times and playlist settings when retrying.
• Lets you dismiss the error banner.
• Leaves working players undisturbed.

PRIVACY
No analytics, advertising, or developer-operated servers. Video URLs and error information are processed locally. Website access is limited to YouTube domains. Retrying loads YouTube’s player and supplies an extension identifier for player identification.

LIMITATIONS
Retrying cannot guarantee playback or bypass YouTube’s account checks and video restrictions. If the YouTube document never loads, the extension cannot display its banner.

Independent extension. Not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube or Google.
