UtilShot Privacy Policy

UtilShot ("the extension") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data.

Summary
The extension does not collect, store, or transmit your screenshots or personal data on our servers. All capture and annotation is done locally in your browser.

Data processed locally (not uploaded)
- Web page screenshot content
- Annotations you add (shapes, arrows, text, mosaic blur, etc.)
- Exported or copied image files (PNG, JPG, WebP, PDF)
- Temporary in-browser cache during full-page stitching (short-lived, on your device only)

We do not collect
- Name, email, or account information
- Browsing history lists
- Analytics or advertising tracking data

Permissions and why we need them
- activeTab: Capture the current tab after you start a capture
- scripting: Inject the selection and annotation UI only when you use the extension
- downloads: Save files when you click Save
- tabs: Identify the active tab for capture; open crop/settings pages
- storage: Store local preferences and temporary full-page capture progress
- clipboardWrite: Copy screenshots when you click Copy
- host permission (<all_urls>): Let you capture and annotate http(s) pages you open. UI is injected only after you click capture. Restricted pages (about:, AMO, etc.) are blocked with a message.

Third-party services
UtilShot v1.0.0 does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or cloud storage SDKs.

Where data is stored
All data stays on your device:
- Browser memory / extension local storage
- Files you choose to save on your computer

Children's privacy
The extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and note significant changes in release notes.
