    This extension does work, but it seems to go to a Tinyurl preview page for a few seconds before forwarding to the actual linked page. Is there any way to avoid this? The preview link option on the settings page is definitely off. Thanks.
    PS this extension doesn't seem to work at all in the is.gd mode.

    Hello -

    All links do go through the TinyURL website. The option to bypass the preview page only works if you use an API key.

    The URLs this creates work exactly the same as if you created them using the TinyURL website.

    The is.gd issue is an issue with the is.gd website, which seems to be down at the moment - it's actually been down for a few weeks. When going directly to the is.gd site to create a URL manually, I am getting the "Error, database insert failed" error message. This error is not related to this add-on.

    L'estensione funziona bene, ma ATTENZIONE, nelle opzioni settatela su "is.gd" e' MOLTO piu' sicuro di "tiny.url" che invece e' molto pericoloso e viene bloccato da "uBlock Origin add" . The extension works well, but BEWARE, in the options set it to "is.gd" it is MUCH safer than "tiny.url" which is very dangerous and is blocked by "uBlock Origin add". TinyURL: As one of the oldest and most widely used link shorteners on the internet, it has historically been a favorite target for cybercriminals. Cybersecurity statistics indicate that TinyURL hosts significantly more malicious links than is.gd

    Please update this add-on to support the new "API" changes from TinyURL. Their previous "API" has been deprecated as of September 2025. You can find more information on TinyURL's official blog regarding this issue, as I'm unable to provide links here. Currently, many links generated using this add-on redirect to a TinyURL page that requires a 10-second wait before the direct link loads. Thank you!

    Thank you for letting me know. I'll look into it as soon as possible. I switched the shortening service to is.gd in the options a long time ago so didn't realize that there was a change to the tinyurl API, so thank you again for letting me know.

    EDIT: 2026.7.14 - API support for TinyURL has been added. Just make a create only API token and add it to the options page to start using it.

    Excellent addon, and very responsive maintainer! Very simple and functional. Supports is.gd and setting a keyboard shortcut.

    It should have an option to automatically create tiny url from the clipboard, rather than the page you're looking at.

    and I think the option to display notification should be enabled by default

    Thank you for the suggestions. I will enable the display notifications by default in the next version.

    The current version supports creating a TinyURL from the clipboard using an option in the add-ons menu. Can you provide more information on how you would like this to work?

    Simple, fast, easy. Does what it says - instantly creates a short URL of your currently active tab by clicking on the toolbar icon & puts it on the clipboard ready for pasting where you want.

    The TinyUrl service routes through VigLink (an advertising/tracking company) that sets tracking cookies.
    I reported it to the developer, and on the same day he added support for another shortener (is.gd)

    The add-in has been updated to work with is.gd as well, so you don't need to use the service provided by tinyurl.com if you choose not to.

    Very convenient and simple and the popup notification option is excellent!

    I'd love to see these options:

    - redirect to the TinyURL site
    - ability to create a custom TinyURL

    Thank you for the feedback. I added the redirect option to version 2019.9.27.22. I looked into adding the alias too, but the TinyURL.com API doesn't support it, so I need to write a bit more code to create it using a different method (pulling it from their website directly, and some kind of interface to let you enter the name). It's going to be added, but it's going to take a little while.

    Edit: I decided not to support the custom alias function until the TinyURL.com API support it. Using their website, then scraping it to pull the info programmatically seems wrong and would cause issues if the page layout changed. While this is still on my list, it's being put aside until proper support is available.
