But it only allows Russian search engines which do not find Canadian websites very well. I also did not like that it seems to store your data on a remote domain.

Смысл данного расширения в том, что на "стартовой" странице отображаются закладки с наиболее посещаемыми сайтами, которые, в том числе, Вы можете настраивать сами.
